Serviceman Facilities 2026-2027 Fort Bend Independent School District - 3.9 Stafford, TX Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Filing Administrative experience High school diploma or GED Maintenance activity documentation Driver's License Computer skills Automotive service record keeping Full Job Description Description Job Overview The Serviceman Facilities will perform semi-skilled routine mechanical work in the maintenance and servicing of white fleet vehicles in accordance with prescribed preventive maintenance schedules. This incumbent will emphasize their work on safety, cost control, and responsiveness to operational needs in order to provide safe, efficient, and reliable transportation with well maintained vehicles. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operational Conduct preventive maintenance inspections of fleet in accordance with the preventive maintenance schedules Perform oil & filter changes Inspect and replace belts & hoses Remove, replace wiper blades & light bulbs Grease & lubricate vehicle parts in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance Schedule Perform fluid levels inspections on fleet vehicles and fill as necessary Check, remove and install service batteries Check, remove, repair and install tires on fleet vehicles Install and/or remove vehicle seats or other equipment such as ratchets; shoulder belts; safety hardness; and make minor repairs as needed Perform/respond to road service calls as needed Administrative Maintain a safe, clean, productive and efficient work area Record time spent, materials used and activities on computer system as each task is completed Keep accurate written and computer records and maintain files, prepare routine reports Comply with all shop rules; FBISD policies & procedures and motor vehicle laws Take all necessary steps and opportunities to improve skills, knowledge and abilities as a mechanic Qualifications Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities, required unless otherwise stated as preferred. High School diploma or GED required Valid Texas Drivers License required Minimum of 1 year of previous experience in a vehicle maintenance field or general knowledge Demonstrated knowledge of vehicle maintenance and servicing methods, techniques, practices and equipment Ability to perform all essential functions of the job and to operate required tools and equipment in a safe and efficient manner Ability to keep routine records and files, and to prepare routine reports utilizing fleet vehicle maintenance software Ability to follow oral and written instructions, and to communicate clearly and concisely Demonstrated knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions associated with the work Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships Physical Requirements/Working Conditions The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The position requires occasional walking, standing, sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying work related items weighing less than 40 pounds, such as books, papers and presentation materials. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress. Additional Information Work requires necessary physical strength, dexterity, agility and hand-foot-eye coordination to perform all essential functions, including operating all tools and equipment, lifting and carrying heavy objects up to and in excess of 50 pounds, reaching in front of body and overhead, standing for extended periods of time, bending over equipment, crawling under equipment, and working in confined spaces and uncomfortable positions for extended periods of time. Work is performed both inside and outside in a repair shop atmosphere and in the field. Employee is subject to adverse weather conditions, extreme temperatures and high noise levels. Employee is also exposed to potential hazards associated with vehicle exhaust fumes, cleaning chemicals, flammable liquids, and the operation of tools, equipment and machinery. Employee is required to wear and use safety clothing and equipment and to comply with safety policies and procedures. Must be able to handle stressful situations as necessary. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
