Summary A Solid Waste Maintenance Worker is responsible for supporting the daily operations and upkeep of solid waste equipment, containers, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient service delivery. This position plays an important role in extending equipment life, reducing downtime, and maintaining a clean, safe, and professional solid waste operation for both employees and the community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs preventative maintenance on solid waste vehicles and equipment, including greasing trucks, checking fluid levels, and inspecting components for wear Conducts light mechanical repairs on solid waste vehicles, containers, carts, and related equipment Delivers, repairs, and replaces residential refuse and recycling containers Assists with installation, repair, and maintenance of dumpsters and other solid waste containers Maintains cleanliness and organization of solid waste facilities, including shops, yards, and container storage areas Picks up and dispose of litter and debris around solid waste facilities and service areas as needed Assists drivers and operations staff with equipment issues in the field when necessary Maintains inventory of commonly used maintenance supplies such as grease, DEF, hydraulic hoses, wheels, lids, and small parts Operates forklifts, skid steers, and other equipment to move containers and materials Performs basic facility maintenance such as minor plumbing repairs, pressure washing, painting, and general upkeep Completes work orders and maintenance logs accurately and in a timely manner Follows all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment Reports equipment problems, safety concerns, and maintenance needs to supervisors Assists with special projects, clean-up events, and storm debris operations as assigned Supports overall solid waste operations to ensure reliable and efficient service to customers Follows City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Certificates, Licenses, Registrations None Thank you for your interest in the position.
