Rapoport Academy is a public charter school serving Pre-K through 12th-grade students and is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and student-centered learning environment. Position Summary The Bus Driver / Maintenance Worker is responsible for safely transporting students and assisting with the upkeep, repair, and general maintenance of school facilities and grounds. This dual-role position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with students and take pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Bus Driver Responsibilities Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, and other school-related activities. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Maintain order and discipline on the bus. Follow all local, state, and district transportation policies and procedures. Report accidents, incidents, vehicle concerns, and student behavior issues as required. Maintain accurate transportation records. Maintenance Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to school buildings, equipment, and grounds. Assist with painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general facility upkeep as assigned. Set up and break down facilities for school events and activities. Monitor school grounds and facilities for safety hazards. Assist with custodial and groundskeeping duties when needed. Maintain tools, equipment, and supplies in good working order. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid Texas Driver's License required. Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, or ability to obtain required endorsements. Clean driving record. Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Experience in school transportation, maintenance, or facilities work preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, bend, and perform repetitive movements. Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and school vehicles.
