Job Description
Public Works Day Laborer - Maintenance and Operations DLII $26.00 - $28.00/hr The City of Everett Public Works Department/Operations is currently accepting applications for a Public Works Day Laborer. This employment is temporary (up to 14 weeks in duration) . It is mandatory that the employee in this position contribute to the Washington State Public Employees Retirement System. This contribution is refundable upon the employees' request at the completion of employment. This job classification is represented by Everett Municipal Employees Local 113, AFSCME. This position is not provided with City of Everett benefits.
NATURE OF WORK
Typical duties include file management and organization, program material updates, data collection and analysis, report creation, research projects, and support of utility design and operations engineering for the City of Everett. The employee will perform a variety of indoor and outdoor tasks under the direction of an engineer.HOURS:
This position is up to 40 hours per week.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to apply available guidelines to recurring operational requirements. Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, formats, and clerical procedures needed to type and proofread a variety of materials from written sources. Ability to proficiently use Microsoft Suite products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive and SharePoint. Ability to proficiently operate computers and other office equipment standard to area of assignment and to adapt to new and/or modified equipment and software programs that may be acquired. Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with supervisors, other employees, and the general public. Ability and willingness to support diversity and multi-cultural understanding in the workplace. Ability and willingness to maintain a work environment free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Ability and willingness to be punctual and dependable. Ability and willingness to work safely and in compliance with city policies and standards.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Washington State Driver License or Washington State ID by date of hire.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
