Job Description

Overview Catholic Community Services of Western Washington and the Archdiocesan Housing Authority (doing business as Catholic Housing Services and Coordinated Care Agency) are outreaches of the Catholic Church in Western Washington. Rooted in the Gospel message of love and hope, we recognize the sacredness and dignity of every human person. Our focus is on those individuals, children, families, and communities struggling with poverty and the effects of intolerance and racism. The Housing and Essential Needs (HEN) program at Catholic Community Services (CCS) provides rent and utility assistance, bus passes, and essential needs products to disabled adults who are experiencing housing instability. Over 4,000 people are currently being served by HEN King County through a staff of 50. The program has Homeless Prevention and Homeless teams, a team of Resource Specialists that respond to the HEN Resource Line, an ORCA Lift program that provides free annual bus passes, and an Essential Needs team that creates hundreds of health & hygiene bags each month. The program operates out of the Randolph Carter Center (RCC) and Phoenix Center (Phoenix) in central Seattle, as well as a CCS family center in Kent. HEN is a statewide program with an annual budget of $25 million. Eligibility is determined through DSHS and CCS is contracted through King County to deliver the services. If you are looking for meaningful work, make a tangible difference, and drive positive change, find out more at: https://ccsww.org/careers/ How YOU can make a difference: This is a full-time position, Monday-Friday 9am - 5pm, Primarily based at The Phoenix Center (2329 Rainier Avenue, Seattle WA) and will commute in our Kent Family Center on Wednesdays (1229 W Smith St. Kent, WA). The Program Assistant (Essential Needs Assistant) will be responsible in stock essential needs supplies, receive supply deliveries, and making essential need supply bags. A majority of this role's time is dedicated to the preparation and management of essential needs supplies at The Phoenix Center. Each bag contains 20+ cleaning and hygiene items that our clients depend on a monthly basis. On Wednesdays, the EN assistant will need to commute to Kent to assist with the weekly Kent Essential Needs Bank. This will require the employee to have an active driver's license and complete a driving record check as part of the hiring process. The Essential Needs (EN) Bank involves setting up, staffing, and breaking down cleaning and hygiene supplies, chairs, tables, and relevant handouts to serve clients during the weekly Essential Needs bank at the CCS Kent Family Center. This involves lifting and transporting items from the storage facilities at The Phoenix Center and storage POD unit to the day center to prepare the essential needs bags and set up the space for distribution. Once the EN bank is open, the position involves maintaining the supply line to hand out bags to individual clients between the hours of 1:30pm-3:30pm, every Wednesday. Benefits & Compensation:

Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist with weekly Essential Needs bank at our Kent location by preparing essential needs bags, setting up the hygiene supplies and distribution space, handing out supplies to clients during the operation of the essential needs bank, and cleaning up after distribution has ended This position is primarily based at 2329 Rainier Avenue, Seattle WA and the employee will need to reliably commute on-site M - F (Wednesdays will be in Kent for the afternoon). Assist with maintaining inventory of supplies and report any shortage of supplies to supervisor Maintain storage room and POD storage unit in an organized and neat manner Prepare 150+ essential needs bags per week with 20+ hygiene products in each Assist with HEN office space maintenance, including building or removing furniture, transferring file cabinets between Seattle and Kent locations, and other office space duties as assigned by supervisor Deliver supplies between service locations as needed - locations include Kent, and Seattle Deliver essential items or temporarily available items to clients as needed This employee will need to be able to regularly lift packages up to 50 lbs. Job Conditions:
This position requires the employee to work in an environment where there may be exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious material. Other exposures could include cleaning supplies, chemicals involved in pest control, paint and other materials used in building maintenance, building temperature fluctuations, dust, noise, and odors. Other working conditions may include interruptions, working alone, responding to emergencies, working on-call and interactions with angry persons.
