Primary Operations:
Laser cutting (sheet and tube), fiber-optic tube laser, turret punch press, CNC forming, tube bending, welding (including robotic), powder coating, band saw cutting.

CNC milling, riveting, PEM insert installation, assembly, quality control. Summary Responsible for assisting in the overall maintenance of equipment and the physical structure of Colby Metal. Will assistin the preventive maintenance, and repair of equipment, machine repairing and the physical structure (existing and future) by performing the following duties according to Standard Operating Procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following.
  • Assures that all safety, inspections, start-up and housekeeping procedures are followed.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Replaces or repairs machine belts.
  • Bends and cuts conduit and wire, and drills holes in walls, floors, and ceilings for electrical connections or coordinate as necessary.
  • Connects and/or coordinates wire to motors, fixtures, and other electrical equipment, replaces switches and fuses, and splices wire and insulates wire with friction tape.
  • Bends, cuts, and threads pipe, cuts openings in walls, ceilings, and floors for pipes, and seals pipe joints with sealing compound or coordinates as necessary.
  • Cuts out and joins parts for worktables, benches, shelves and other furnishings or coordinates as necessary.
  • Clears clogged drains, and replaces plumbing fixtures.
  • Operates and/or coordinates welding machine to repair or join metal parts.
  • Assures that all work areas, tools and equipment are clean and organized and project clean-up is completed before moving on to next project.
  • Assists in following and maintaining the preventative/scheduled maintenance program.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles and/or coordinates defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains any existing and any new physical structure of Colby Metal.
  • Programs or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Operates and or coordinates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
