Job Description

Maintenance Repairer - Department of Public Works There's no such thing as "routine" in this role.   • Perform routine maintenance of sanitary sewer mains, including jetting operations, inspections, and evaluations.
  • Conduct hydro-excavating on catch basins and manholes using vac-all equipment.
  • Operate trucks and construction/maintenance equipment.
  • Assist in building storm sewers, catch basins, and sanitary manholes, including shoring job sites as needed.
  • Complete asphalt maintenance work such as pothole repair, crack filling, and patching streets, alleys, curbs, and sidewalks.
  • Perform concrete finishing and laboring tasks, including excavation, grading, forming, pouring, and finishing pavement, curbs, and sidewalks.
  • Assist in emergency work, including snow and ice control, flooding, windstorms, natural disaster response, and sanitary sewer pumping.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork, communication, and professionalism during both routine and emergency operations. What You Bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain a Wisconsin CDL (Class B, C with air brakes) and Tanker (N) endorsement within 12 months of hire.
  • At least two years of recent paid concrete finishing experience.
  • A solid work ethic, integrity, initiative, accountability, and emotional intelligence.
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended hours during emergencies, including rotational watch duty.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to make sound decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to use computers and mobile devices (iPad), and adapt to specialized software and databases.
  • Experience working with the public is desirable. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment used in public works construction and maintenance.
  • Understanding of occupational hazards and safe work practices.
  • Skill in using hand tools and operating a variety of vehicles/equipment.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks from verbal instructions, sketches, or layouts.
  • Ability to maintain positive working relationships with a diverse community and workforce.
