Job Description

Description:
Provide specific assistance in the development, planning, and construction of new or existing facilities under the general direction of the Director of Capital Projects and Major Maintenance.
Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or GED. 2. Hands-on construction experience. 3. Bachelor's degree with emphasis in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field, or work experience sufficient to substitute for formal education. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, equipment, procedures, and materials pertinent to the construction, maintenance, repair, and alteration of buildings and related facilities and equipment. 5. Demonstrated ability to use PC computers, electronic office equipment, and familiar with general office procedures. 6. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with architects, engineers, site administrators, and the contractor's management team. 7. The ability to live and work in a cross-cultural rural Alaskan environment. 8. The ability and willingness to travel to remote village locations, as necessary. 9. Ability to carry out successfully the duties described below.
Duties:
1. Reviews design drawings and specifications for conformance with district programs, building design standards, and accepted construction methods. 2. Provide construction management services, which could include overall responsibility for the administration of the construction contract and related functions as assigned. 3. Assist in the development of plans for new and remodel work. 4. Provide liaison between the district and project design firm(s). 5. Review contractor progress evaluations. 6. Reviews design drawings and specs for conformance with district programs, building design standards and accepted construction methods. 7. Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary for the proper execution of the construction program.
