Birmingham, AL Job Details 9 hours ago Qualifications Communication with suppliers Building code compliance Electrical systems facility management Vendor relationship management Vendor communication Technical Proficiency Full Job Description The Facilities Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, safety, functionality, and appearance of all Credit Union facilities across multiple states. This position oversees the daily operation and upkeep of branch locations, ensuring buildings, grounds, equipment, and systems are maintained in a safe, clean, efficient, and professional manner for employees, members, and visitors. The Facilities Superintendent reports to the Branch Operations Manager and works closely with departmental managers throughout the organization. This position may also receive directives from the CFO and CEO as needed and may have direct supervisory responsibilities. This role is responsible for coordination and overseeing maintenance, repairs, renovations, and facility improvement projects across the Credit Union footprint, including new branch construction, updates to newly acquired facilities, and ongoing maintenance of existing locations. The Facilities Superintendent must ensure all facilities remain operational, presentable, and compliant with applicable safety standards and organizational expectations. The Facilities Superintendent manages relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers for building systems, equipment, maintenance programs, and repair services. This position is also responsible for responding to facility emergencies as needed, including after-hours situations that may impact branch operations, safety, or security. The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, independent decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple projects and facility needs across various branch locations simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the maintenance, functionality, cleanliness, and overall appearance of all Credit Union facilities across multiple states Ensure branch buildings, grounds, parking lots, landscaping, and exterior areas remain safe, clean, and professionally maintained Coordinate and perform general facility maintenance, including lighting replacement, minor plumbing repairs, minor building repairs, and equipment maintenance Monitor and maintain irrigation systems, including seasonal startup and winter shutdown procedures Oversee HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and other building systems to ensure proper operation and timely repair Coordinate inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair services for facility systems and operations equipment Manage facility-related construction projects, including new branch construction, renovations, remodels, and updates to newly acquired buildings Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and service providers performing maintenance, repairs, installations, or contracted services as needed Monitor contractor performance to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to credit Union standards Respond to facility emergencies and urgent maintenance situations during and after normal business hours as necessary Ensure all facilities comply with safety standards, operational requirements, and credit union expectations to provide a safe environment for employees, members, and visitors Assist with moving, installing, purchasing, and transporting furniture, equipment, files, supplies, and other operational materials between branch locations Conduct alarm testing and ensure proper reporting and communication of alarm-related issues to management Maintain records related to facility maintenance, inspections, repairs, vendor services, and operational projects Communicate facility concerns, project updates, operational issues, and recommendations effectively with management and branch personnel Travel regularly between branch locations within the Credit Union footprint to access facility conditions and operational needs Prepare annual reports for suggested branch projects within the assigned budget Performs other duties as assigned
Essential Qualifications and Competencies:
Training, education, and experience that demonstrates possession of the required knowledge and competencies Associate degree or technical certificate in electrical systems, HVAC systems, or related field preferred, experience may be substituted for college Excellent analytical and project management skills High level of discretion and judgement in vendor communications High level of proficiency and understanding of systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and code compliance Must be able to travel between branch locations 20-30% of the time Excellent communication and listening skills Ability to work independently and as a team member Excellent oral and written skills Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
