The Maintenance Supervisor is a pivotal role responsible for leading and managing all maintenance operations within the facility. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of production equipment and infrastructure by overseeing daily maintenance activities, leading a team of technicians, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Supervisor plays a key role in minimizing unplanned downtime through proactive preventive maintenance, effective project execution, and strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. By aligning maintenance strategies with production goals, this individual contributes directly to operational excellence, cost efficiency, and long-term facility reliability.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily maintenance operations to ensure timely completion of work orders, rapid response to equipment failures, and compliance with safety, quality, and productivity standards. Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive maintenance programs for production machinery, support systems, and spare parts inventory to reduce downtime and support production schedules. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 10-20 maintenance technicians, fostering professional growth, teamwork, and high performance. Ensure all maintenance activities comply with GSF standards and applicable regulations, including OSHA, USDA, and other industry requirements. Design and manage in-house improvement projects to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and operational performance. Monitor and control maintenance budgets to achieve cost savings and efficiency targets while delivering measurable results. Track, analyze, and report on key maintenance KPIs such as downtime reduction, cost per repair, and project completion rates. Communicate maintenance policies, performance expectations, and operational goals clearly to the team. Collaborate with production, engineering, and other departments to align schedules, resolve issues, and optimize workflows. Serve as the primary liaison for all maintenance-related concerns, escalating critical issues as needed. Interpret technical documentation, including blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals, to plan and execute maintenance tasks. Identify and troubleshoot equipment anomalies to prevent failures and ensure optimal performance. Perform other duties as assigned to support facility operations and maintenance objectives.
Requirements Requirements:
Up to 18 months of post-high school education in engineering, electronics, or a related technical field from an accredited vocational, technical, or junior college. 3-6 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Demonstrated knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, refrigeration, boiler, and mechanical systems at a journey-level proficiency. Solid understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices in industrial settings. Familiarity with OSHA, USDA, and other relevant regulatory standards. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and technical documentation. Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and deliver results. Excellent communication, leadership, and team development abilities. Proficiency in M icrosoft Word, Excel, and basic computer applications for reporting and documentation. Physical ability to climb, crawl, squat, kneel, reach, and twist as required by the job. Capacity to lift, push, pull, or carry objects exceeding 25 lbs. Willingness to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with a strong focus on safety, quality, and operational excellence.
