Nional Guard and reserves Current members, those who want to join or transitioning military members. Duties Help This position is loced with the 161st Air Refueling Wing in Phoenix, Arizona. The purpose is to provide overall direction and coordinion of subordine work activities within one of three major work functions (Aircraft Generion Division, and the Equipment Maintenance and the Component Repair Branches of the Aircraft Maintenance Division. All three work functions are organized with a number of subordine supervisors due to the scope, volume, and complexity of operions. The work involves the total maintenance of complex, high performance military aircraft, ranging from multi-purpose heavy, multi engine transports to the most modern sophisticed fighters and bombers. All aircraft are fully integred in and are part of the Total Force Mission of the United Stes Air Force. Occupions supervised are somewh similar, in th they all involve maintenance of assigned aircraft to ensure comb readiness; they are dissimilar in their organizional locion, as well as the functional areas, occupional series, and the variety and complexity of systems for which each function is responsible. The occupion and nonsupervisory grade which best reflects the overall work operions supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air Nional Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st WG. This is an excepted service position th requires membership in a compible military assignment in the employing ste's Nional Guard, required prior to the effective de of placement. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. For positions requiring the operion of motor vehicles, candides must have a valid ste driver's license for the ste in which they live or are principally employed. Irregular (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Incumbent must possess a Secret Security Clearance. Any military promotion subject to DEMA Policy Letter 20.21, Control Grade availability, and the AZ ANG Enlisted Promotion Policy as applicable. In addition to the journeyman level knowledge [experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting parts, subassemblies and components, and functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modificion.], must possess least 36 months experience demonstring the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments of lower grade personnel. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establishing priorities to meet deadlines. Experience th provided knowledge of various lines of work performed by this function. Experience which demonstres the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communice knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
