GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
FLSA:
Exempt Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. Directs and oversees maintenance of buildings and grounds for a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness, and safety. Coordinates all construction and renovation projects, remodels and capital improvements.
MAJOR TASKS
Develops and implements corrective and preventative maintenance programs for District grounds and facilities. Schedule and maintain all preventive maintenance items as specified by the School Facilities Board and in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes. Serves as Construction Project Manager for district Prioritizes and assigns work orders and provides supervision as necessary for maintenance, grounds and construction projects. Inspects repairs and maintenance work for completion and quality. Develops, implements and maintains a departmental budget and cost control program. Coordinates the District's energy management program. Prepares cost estimates for repairs, minor construction and maintenance. Responsible for all facilities use scheduling and billing. Assists in long and short term planning related to construction and maintenance activities within the District. Chairs design teams for planning of construction projects with the inclusion of principals, teachers, parents and other personnel as needed. Coordinates the District's custodial program. Prepares specifications needed for outside contracts on building, capital maintenance and construction projects. Organizes and implements an orientation and training program on safe operation and maintenance of school facilities so as to meet OSHA criteria. Evaluates staff on a regular basis and makes recommendations for employment. Assists in coordination of the District's safety program. Coordinates and maintains District's security alarm systems. Maintains proper records regarding mandated programs, i.e. OSHA, AHERA, etc. Acts as District Asbestos Coordinator. Prepares specifications for contracted services as needed. Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Operations & Finance
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of Associates degree in a construction or related field. Minimum five years experience in a facility management position. Ability to supervise and develop efficient work schedules. Demonstrated knowledge in performing tasks connected with all phases of construction and maintenance including the ability to read and translate blueprints. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
