Purpose of Your Job Position The primary purpose of your job position is to plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of the Maintenance Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Executive Director, to assure that our facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner. Administrative Functions Supervise the day-today maintenance functions of assigned personnel. Assist the Executive Director in setting maintenance standards. Assist in developing procedures for performing daily maintenance tasks. Assist the Executive Director in standardizing the methods in which work is accomplished. Coordinate daily maintenance services with nursing services when performing maintenance assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas. Ensure that work schedules are followed as closely as practical. Personnel Functions Assign personnel to specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. Ensure that personnel are performing assigned tasks in accordance with established maintenance procedures. Ensure that painting, rework or repairing of facility equipment is accomplished in accordance with established policies. Review and evaluate the work performance of assigned personnel. Make recommendations to the Executive Director. Assist in conducting departmental performance evaluations as necessary and in accordance with the Safety and Sanitation Ensure that fire protection and prevention programs are maintained by department personnel in accordance with our fire safety policies and procedures. Ensure that maintenance personnel follow safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies. Ensure that all personnel wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when lifting or moving heavy objects. Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a safe and attractive manner.
