PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Maintenance leads support the production team by performing basic preventative maintenance, making repairs, assisting with set-up, take down and re-configuration of production and warehouse equipment for both production and sanitation activities. Responsibilities are limited to working on less complex equipment and/or systems, unless they are receiving assistance from more skilled individuals. Maintenance Leads make recommendations and notations for senior maintenance staff to assure facilities and equipment are properly maintained and records are maintained. They work closely with Shift Managers on maintenance issues but are not ultimately responsible for maintenance decisions but report them to the Maintenance Supervisor and/or the Engineering Manager. Maintenance leads report directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REPSPONSIBILITIES
Perform non-planned repairs and on-the-spot repairs or adjustments to bakery equipment to keep production processes flowing smoothly. This is on less complex bakery equipment such as mixers, ovens, depositors, wrappers, and kettles. This involves basic troubleshooting and operation of the equipment to verify the proper operation after repair or maintenance. When working on complex equipment or systems they are assisted by an experienced individual. Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment and facility systems as assigned and complete within expected time frames. Make and assist with repairs to the facility that includes carpentry, plumbing, HVAC and electrical. Train bakery workers, sanitation workers and maintenance apprentice workers on Standard Operating Procedures and Sanitation Standard Operation Procedures for production equipment including safe operation, set-up and breakdown procedures. Support set-up, and takedown procedures for bakery operations and sanitation activities. Clean critical equipment including electrical panels Assist with installation of new equipment and facility modifications as needed. Document activities and repairs using various systems to assure appropriate records are maintained. Make recommendations to supervisor for work order plans to improve equipment and processes including equipment setups, adjustments. Use manuals, equipment schematics, and other documentation to maintain and adjust production equipment and facility systems Assist as needed the duties of a production associate such as measuring and mixing ingredients, depositing batters, placing and removing the product from ovens, packaging product Support and follow all food safety rules, safety rules and good manufacturing practices. Complete maintenance training such as Maintenance 360, as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or GED 1 to 2 years field experience including construction, electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems repairs that includes making minor repairs of commercial equipment 1 to 2 years of experience in a commercial bakery, assembly line manufacturing, or other similar work experience helpful
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Good skills in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general troubleshooting Able to perform the duties of a bakery production associate Ability to read and understand equipment manuals. Ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams helpful Ability to anticipate work demands, work independently with minimal supervision and stay on task. Ability to work productively alone and as a member of a team Use computers for data entry and/or handle, use, or repair hand-held power equipment, tools and/or light machinery Proficiency to navigate tablet-based technology Ability to be flexible, calm, and collected, and do what it takes to get the job done Ability to follow policies and procedures, including safety and food safety requirements Good communication, facilitation, problem-solving instructional and analytical skills Able to communicate clearly via phone and email with the maintenance team Have a high sense of personal integrity as well as high personal standards of performance Strong attention to detail Ability to move quickly and accurately in an assembly line environment The ability to communicate in Spanish is helpful but not required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is: Regularly (2/3 or more total time) required to: Use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and controls when doing repairs and installations Reach with hands and arms, grasp objects, push/pull equipment weighing 30 pounds Rotate the wrist, and use finger dexterity while using tools, writing or keyboarding Lift 10 to 30 pounds from ground to waist and/or shoulder height, and carry for a distance of 10 to 40 feet on smooth floor; Talk and hear in person; Frequently (1/3 to 2/3 total time) required to: Walk for a distance of 10 to 50 feet on various surfaces including floors, sidewalks and roads up to 3 hours a day; Twist the upper body while performing repairs and installations Bend to hold in place or retrieve items; Sit up to 2 hours per day while driving or sitting at a desk Maneuver around, under and on top of various types of equipment Occasionally (up to 1/3 total time) required to: Lift 40 to 50 pounds from ground to waist and/or shoulder height, and carry for a distance of 10 to 40 feet on smooth floor; Use feet and legs to operate car Stand in place on smooth floor for intermittently up to 1 hour a day Climb stairs, ladders, step stools. Kneel while making repairs or installing equipment; Squat while making repairs or installing equipment. Perform repairs standing on top of commercial ovens, platforms, lifts and other industrial equipment Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a commercial bakery and maintenance shop that contains ovens, mixers, fans and other equipment that generates noise and heat. Because all products use flour, flour dust is present throughout the production area. Employees are required to wear appropriate personnel protective equipment which may include but not limited to non-slip safety shoes, gloves, areas safety glasses and hearing protection. The noise level varies depending on locations.
