Job Description

Summary The Building Maintenance Foreperson works with the Streets and Building Operations Supervisor to lead field operations for all building maintenance and repair work across public facilities. This role's primary responsibility is maintaining the buildings and equipment within, at a high level of operational readiness. This is accomplished via coordinating the efforts of the building maintenance team, ensuring high-quality work, overseeing an effective preventative maintenance (PM) program and maintaining strong communication with City staff and company leadership. Success in this role requires hands-on expertise, accountability, and proactive communication. Key Responsibilities Lead and direct daily work of building maintenance team Oversee a robust and effective PM program, to include identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement from the current program Communicate proactively with leadership and building maintenance staff on job status, delays, issues, and completion Plan, assign, and prioritize work to meet contract service expectations and minimize operational deficiencies Perform and oversee general maintenance (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.) Inspect work in progress and upon completion to ensure quality and compliance Identify issues early, troubleshoot, and escalate when needed Ensure all work orders and reports are accurate and complete and seek opportunities for improvement relative to utilization of available technology Coordinate and oversee subcontractors as needed to include both routine and non-routine specialized work. Train and hold team members accountable for performance, safety, and communication Safety Enforce all safety policies and applicable regulations Ensure proper use of PPE and safe work practices Report and address hazards, incidents, and near misses immediately Qualifications A minimum of 15 years of building maintenance experience, including leadership responsibilities Strong working knowledge of building systems and general trades Proven ability to lead crews and manage multiple job sites Strong communication skills written and verbal Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record What Success Looks Like Buildings and equipment consistently maintained at a high level of operational readiness Develop and maintain a well-executed PM program Clear, consistent communication with all stakeholders Strong relationships with City staff and internal teams Consistently probing for opportunities to improve on service delivery We are an equal opportunity employer.
