05/04/2026 Under general direction, this position plans, organizes, and manages the maintenance of the District's fleet. This includes employee management, oversight of the repairs and maintenance including proper documentation, daily shop operation and schedules. The Coordinator will purchase within the set policies and evaluate/recommend capital equipment needs to their supervisor. The Coordinator inspects, diagnoses mechanical issues on district vehicles and equipment. The Coordinator performs their work in compliance with established safety procedures, meeting or exceeding industry and manufacturer estimated work times. This position exercises direct oversight of all employees concerning fleet management related matters and supervises assigned staff; and performs related work as required. Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:- Equivalent to Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; AND
- 4 years experience as a professional mechanic; AND
- ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Certified in brakes, front end, electrical, A/C, diesel and gas engines, drive train and axles.
- FMCSA Inspection training must be obtained within 6 months of hire date. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, manages, and oversees the daily operations of the District's fleet maintenance programs and schedules
- Coordinates usage of District fleet with Athletic Department and other District staff.
- Prepares preventive maintenance procedures and schedules for all equipment, vehicles, and tools; oversees, directs, and documents the schedule and assignments for completing the required preventive maintenance.
- Receives, reads, interprets documents and processes work orders. Assigns staff or third party to respond to requests for service and monitors successful resolution of fleet problems.
- Performs complex diagnostics on vehicle systems.
- Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for the assigned functions.
- Develops, administers, and oversees the fleet maintenance program budget.
- Receives, reads, interprets documents and processes work orders. Assigns staff or third party to respond to requests for service and monitors successful resolution of fleet problems.
- Work in cooperation with Human Resources to maintain district driver pool; commercial driver pool, and associated programs.
- Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned staff; provides or coordinates staff training; coaches staff toward improved performance; responds to staff questions and concerns. May oversee student workers as assigned.
- Conducts and participates in safety training for various maintenance activities in accordance with District, state, and federal guidelines.
- Monitors changes in laws, regulations, and technology that may affect District or departmental operations; implements policy and procedural changes as required.
- Learns and applies emerging technologies and, as necessary, to perform duties in an efficient, organized, and timely manner.
- Maintain current knowledge of appropriate education codes, California state statutes, federal regulations, and local board and administrative policies related to service areas; and assure compliance with these laws and regulations.
- Ensure fair and equitable policies and procedures within the programs and related areas of the college.
- Maintain active involvement on appropriate college committees, program advisory committees, and support program reviews.

Preferred Qualifications:
EPA 609 Certification Knowledge and Skills- Strong leadership skills and abilities, including participatory management skills.
- Knowledge of budgeting and basic accounting skills.
- Knowledge of principles, methods and practices pertaining to the management of fleet maintenance, repair operations, parts purchasing and inventory.
- Knowledge of administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, budget development, program development, implementation, and evaluation.
- Principles and practices of employee supervision, including work planning, assignment, review and evaluation, and the training of staff in work methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts and vehicle repair.
- Diagnostic skills.
- Will have overall responsibility for the planning, coordination, and oversight of all required repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance, up to and including major overhauls.
- Knowledge of Safe work practices related to fleet maintenance work.
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, and District laws, regulations, ordinances, policies, and procedures relevant to assigned programs, projects, and operations.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, as well as contemporary office technology, computer equipment, and common business software applications, including word processing, database, and spreadsheet tools
- Principles and practices of record keeping.
- Demonstrate interpersonal skills and strong communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and problem solve relative to urgency.
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate a multitude of tasks.
- Must have background and knowledge of all aspects of fleet operations.

- Maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators and community agencies, and provide direction and motivation to service staff.

- Identify, analyze, initiate and complete tasks with a minimum of supervision.
