This is a senior-level position that requires strong leadership abilities and technical expertise. The Director of Engineering is primarily responsible for managing the daily maintenance operations for all five hotel properties, including Estéban Restaurant to promote a safe working environment and quality service to achieve maximum guest satisfaction. Supervise and manage the maintenance department, and provide accurate communication to the Vice President, General Manager.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Knowledge resort/hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies, procedures and standards as it relates to the maintenance department. Direct all aspects of the maintenance operations including emergency programs, energy management, asset protection, preventive maintenance and repairs to equipment, structures and grounds. Provide solutions to all hotel properties regarding various architectural, engineering and/or environmental issues including those that arise during environmental and property audits, hotel or staff misuse or natural disasters affecting the property. Maintain continued awareness of changes in environmental laws and research to establish an up-to-date and proactive approach to handling and resolving these issues specific to Federal, State & Local laws. Overseeing Information Technology systems in working closely with the Vice President, GM that includes network infrastructure, property management and phone systems. Oversee contracts necessary to maintain and enhance the value, operating efficiency, and the physical appearance of all properties. Reduce operating expenses while maintaining or enhancing the quality of the services provided. Development and execution of current and 5-year Capital Plan, including RFP's, contracts, scheduling and project management. Manage maintenance staff regarding human resource functions such as hiring, timely performance reviews and coaching and counseling. Handle accounting functions such as budgeting; asset protection; inventory control; time management and payroll.EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Minimum of five years' experience in building operations and project management is required. Proven experience in a leadership role within a maintenance department. General knowledge of repairing/replacing plumbing systems, HVAC, refrigeration and kitchen equipment. Knowledge of swimming pool/spa maintenance and chemicals.
