location. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the design and execution of process development activities, including but not limited to process capability studies, product efficiency improvements, identification of new or emerging process technologies, and implementing them in our Bar/Powder facilities. This position will liaise with Operations, Quality Assurance, and external vendors to ensure projects meet timelines and goals Develop, implement, and maintain production programs, standards of production, PLANT GMP'S, champion safety programs and production budgets, which will ensure consistent quality and achievements of annual goals. Manages personnel and budgets to maintain safe and efficient operation of production equipment and facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a proactive participant in the Manufacturing Management Team. Fiscal responsibility for maintenance budgets Liaison with Director of Product Development on new products and to be fully responsible on the respective manufacturing start-ups. To coordinate with the Director of Product Development to assure that new products will run efficiently, at budgeted cost, without limiting the company's overall capacity. Manage time/attendance for mechanics and staffing to support production needs Maintain facilities and support systems Assign and supervise maintenance tasks for mechanics Identify potential cost saving ideas Independently manage timelines, including scheduling of production trials and new equipment qualifications to ensure on-time launch of new products Active participant in the gathering and presentation of information for customer audits. Provide timely product quality troubleshooting services to the manufacturing group. Establish and maintain statistical process control programs Work closely with plant management, line supervisors and operators to implement process system improvements. Provide professional training to operating personnel in equipment operation and process control techniques. Provide professional guidance in the tightening of product and process specifications. Maintain and monitor a program of regulatory agency compliance for FDA, OSHA and State of California Standards Liaison with Safety Manager to ensure an effective safety program on a continual basis Liaison and coordinate with all manufacturing management, an on-going program "cost reduction/profit improvement" program that will also provide "value enhancement" for Nellson's customer base. Comply and enforce Good Manufacturing Practices Adherence to Nellson policies and procedures for GMP's, Food Safety, Security and Safety Perform other duties as deemed appropriate by Sr.
Directo of Operations Education & Experience Minimum Education Required :
Proven experience as maintenance manager or similar role Strong technical knowledge of all building systems (electrical, heating etc.) Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations Understanding of budgeting and performance management Excellent planning and leadership abilities An eye for detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills BS in Food Engineering or related field Education desired; MS in
Food Engineering or Related Field Years Of Relevant Experience:
10 Professional Certifications (e.g. CMRP or HVAC certified) are preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities required: Thorough understanding and working knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical equipment and preventive maintenance experience Understanding of Process Engineering principles, preferably relating to confectionery and chocolate Experience and knowledge of production processes and equipment used in the food industry Experience of working with operations groups on implementation of new products. Able to translate operational efficiencies to financial savings Experience and knowledge in working with cross functional teams, training in teamwork and communication.
