We are seeking an experienced Fleet Maintenance Manager / Lead Mechanic to oversee and manage our maintenance facility in Santa Fe Springs, California. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with strong diagnostic and repair experience in both diesel and gasoline-powered commercial vehicles, along with the management skills to supervise shop operations, mechanics, preventive maintenance schedules, and fleet compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage daily operations of the fleet maintenance facility Supervise mechanics and maintenance staff Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel and gasoline vehicles Oversee preventive maintenance programs and inspection schedules Ensure compliance with DOT, CHP, and safety regulations Coordinate repairs, parts ordering, inventory, and vendor relationships Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation Minimize vehicle downtime and ensure fleet readiness Support emergency breakdown response when needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum 7+ years of mechanic experience with diesel and gasoline fleet vehicles
- Previous shop management or supervisory experience required
- Strong knowledge of fleet preventive maintenance programs
- Experience with shuttle, vans, city vehicles and fleet equipment preferred
- ASE Certifications strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license required (CDL Class B preferred but not required)
- Ability to diagnose electrical, engine, brake, suspension, HVAC, and drivetrain systems
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Must be able to clear background check, e-verify, and pre-employment test
