Job Description

Join our growing team! The Vehicle Maintenance Superintendent is a newly created position that will help plan, organize, oversee, coordinate, and manage the staff and operations of rail vehicle maintenance services in the Vehicle Maintenance division. The position oversees the delivery of inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, and modification of Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) revenue vehicles and associated shop equipment to ensure effective performance of vehicle maintenance functions; manages the effective use of resources to improve organizational productivity and fleet reliability; provides complex and responsible support to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager in areas of expertise; and performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education:
Equivalent to an associate degree with major coursework in business administration, engineering, vehicle or equipment maintenance, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Experience:
Six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in vehicle maintenance and repair operations in an FRA-regulated rail environment, including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
Salary Range:
$145,100 - $181,376 per year. SMART is an equal opportunity employer.
