Job Description
We are a growing food manufacturer with a focus on canned goods of all varieties! We partner with some of the biggest food chains that we all love! We are expanding our footprint and need a Maintenance Manager to help grow and oversee our maintenance department for one of our facilities.
Position OverviewLead and manage the maintenance function for a food manufacturing facility, ensuring reliable, safe and efficient operation of production equipment. The Maintenance Manager is responsible for developing and executing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, minimizing downtime on conveyors, belts and processing equipment (including pickling and canning lines), maintaining compliance with food safety and regulatory standards, and driving continuous improvement in equipment performance and maintenance practices.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead, coach and schedule a team of maintenance technicians and contractors to meet production and safety targets.
Develop, implement and optimize preventive maintenance programs and work schedules using CMMS to reduce unplanned downtime.
Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and pneumatic failures on conveyors, belts, canning and pickling equipment, and other production machinery.
Oversee installation, commissioning and modification of production equipment, including conveyors and material handling systems.
Manage spare parts inventory, procurement priorities and vendor relationships to support fast repairs and minimize parts shortages.
Ensure all maintenance activities comply with food safety (HACCP), sanitation protocols and regulatory requirements; coordinate maintenance around cleaning schedules.
Establish and track maintenance KPIs (MTTR, MTBF, OEE) and produce regular reports for plant leadership; drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions for recurring issues.
Develop and manage maintenance budgets, control costs and evaluate capital expenditures for equipment upgrades or replacements.
Implement safety programs, conduct risk assessments, enforce lockout/tagout and permit-to-work procedures, and deliver ongoing safety and technical training to staff.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives (lean maintenance, reliability-centered maintenance) to increase equipment reliability, throughput and product quality.
QualificationsTechnical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance or related field preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance experience in food manufacturing, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Hands-on experience with conveyors, belts, canning and pickling lines and other food processing equipment.
Strong mechanical, electrical and PLC troubleshooting skills, including pneumatics, hydraulics and motor controls.
Experience with CMMS systems and working knowledge of maintenance metrics (MTTR, MTBF, OEE).Familiarity with food safety standards (HACCP, GMP) and experience coordinating maintenance around sanitation requirements.
Demonstrated ability to manage spare parts inventory, work with vendors and maintain budgets.
Proven leadership skills, with experience training and developing technicians and enforcing safety practices (lockout/tagout, PPE).Excellent problem-solving, communication and organizational skills; able to prioritize in a fast-paced production environment.
Willingness to work flexible hours, be on call for emergencies and support continuous operations.
