Job Description

Summit Handling Systems, Inc is an award-winning, privately owned third generation family business with a 70+ year presence in the Northeast. An 'essential' company in the nation's supply chain, we sell, service and rent forklifts and related materials handling equipment from 5 locations, employing over 180 people, and still growing. Look at us at www.summithandling.com. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Industrial Tire Manager to lead our tire department operations. This role is responsible for overseeing field service operations, technician performance, customer relationships, and overall department efficiency, safety, and profitability. Key Responsibilities Industrial Tire Operations Oversee road and shop operations to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency Manage dispatching of tire press trucks and technicians to maintain efficient service delivery Provide technical support and guidance to technicians as needed Monitor work orders and service workflow to ensure timely completion Ensure accurate and complete service documentation for billing purposes Provide estimates for replacement tires on new, rental, and used equipment (internal and external customers) Manage and maintain tire inventory levels at the North Haven branch Ensure accurate labor tracking and job completion documentation Maintain strong customer and vendor relationships Customer Service Duties Provide customers with product information and recommendations for tire needs Deliver prompt and professional responses to customer inquiries Conduct ongoing customer visits to support business development Manage relationships with key accounts Resolve quality, service, or billing issues as needed Collaborate with internal teams to grow existing business Support sales personnel with identifying equipment and service opportunities Assist other departments with technical tire-related support Administration Duties Participate in weekly service meetings and operational forecasting Support department profitability through financial awareness and cost control Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements Maintain accurate operational and safety records Oversee supplier invoice approvals and coding accuracy Support Accounts Receivable with past due or disputed invoices Maintain accurate accounts payable records Transportation Duties Schedule tire press trucks and technicians daily Coordinate interbranch tire inventory transfers as needed Personnel Duties Hire, train, and develop tire department personnel Conduct performance reviews and ongoing coaching Ensure technicians are properly trained, equipped, and representing the company professionally Oversee training programs and track development progress Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and performance Qualifications Proficiency in the company business systems with a complete and thorough understanding of all service-related functions. Experience managing others Ability to problem solve, multi-task, and prioritize Knowledge of the industry preferred Excellent communication skills Must have sound judgement and leadership qualities
