Job Description

The Chief Engineer position is responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of the property. This position works closely with all employees at the hotel to ensure a smooth operation. Chief Engineer Essential Duties and Responsibilities include: Supervise and coordinate the installation and repair of all electrical, mechanical, and architectural systems throughout the facility to ensure safety and efficiency. Assist the Director of Engineering in administrating programs involving electrical, mechanical, and general construction, repair and maintenance of existing facilities and equipment, operation of plant utilities (i.e. gas, electric, air conditioning systems, and water). Assigns and verifies completion of routine maintenance and operation of the physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C. systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility. Visually inspects the quality of work and directs staff and outside contractors in tasks according to performance and productivity standards. Communicate effectively with city officials to ensure proper maintenance of permits and licenses, such as, but not, limited to, inspecting the facility with the fire department to ensure all public assembly permits are maintained yearly, coordinating inspections of all elevators. Preventative maintenance of the resort. Make sure all issues reported by in-house guests are fixed immediately. (Sink leaks and clogs, clogged toilets, AC units, light bulbs, TV, electrical, phone, wireless, appliances etc…). Responsible for the safety and upkeep of the resort and exterior grounds. Pool maintenance including balancing of chemicals, changing the filter, keeping pool and pool area clean, and ensuring that ADA lift is operational. Maintenance rooms are clean, organized, and compliant with fire and safety codes. Inventory and ordering of maintenance supplies. Ensuring all inspections are current and scheduled with contracted vendors such as elevator and sprinkler inspections. Coordinate repairs with outside vendors when necessary and build relationships with these vendors.
  • Promotes teamwork and high morale with associates.
Aggressively reduces the number of accidents, and minimizes worker's compensation and unemployment claims. Ensures the club is in compliance with all federal, state and local laws, tax laws (including exemption criteria) OSHA, wage, hour, and health laws. Excellent guest relations skills. Effective negotiation skills and strategic thinking. Practice safety standards at all times. Conducts quarterly fire evacuation practice.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Act as a team leader/player with all levels of staff. Lead by example. Current and valid driver's license. Professional behavior and appearance. Participate in all mandatory job training and meetings.
  • Adhere to property policies and procedures. Immediately respond to and/or report any suspicious activities, threats, robberies, injuries, etc. by guests, associates or others to the proper authorities as appropriate and to the GM. On-call status
  • CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain certification.
CPO Certification Education:
Engineering degree or equivalent in college education and/or related experience.
Experience:
Five to ten years of combination in school and hands-on work experience in buildings with complex electrical systems. Experience in coordinating electrical requirements for conventions and meetings. Broad, practical experience in the fields of stationary engineering, building maintenance, plumbing, and electrical wiring. Should be familiar with the work and limitations of various crafts, particularly licenses workers who are employed in building maintenance.
