Hours:
7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., Monday - Friday; will be required to work overtime and during County emergencies.
Other:
Must be able to lift 75 pounds. Valid Florida Driver's License and PBC Risk Management Department driving history approval prior to appointment. Respiratory screen/chest x-ray and Hearing Loss Test required for selected candidate. Will be required to pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) background check in addition to a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office background check prior to appointment. Use the Job ID based on the Position Location as follows Location Job ID County-Wide 35205 Coordinates, assigns, and reviews skilled and semi-skilled workers engaged in air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, general maintenance, repair, alteration, and construction of County buildings, facilities, and other structures. Assigns jobs to a small crew of trades workers and helpers; inspects daily job progress; meets with contractors; assists supervisors in scheduling/preparing for expected projects. Prepares statements of work for service and repair contracts; monitors compliance. Performs set-up, layout, and design of on-site construction; estimates materials, supplies, and staff hours; completes purchasing requisitions; orders materials and coordinates services with vendors to ensure they are properly rendered. This position works closely with the regions and vendors to process payment of materials and services provided. Work is performed under the general supervision of a Maintenance Supervisor and is reviewed upon completion for conformance with job specifications and all applicable codes.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following: Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of seven (7) years of experience in one or more of the building/construction, electrical, or mechanical trades, including three (3) months of experience directing the work of others, OR Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification; minimum of seven (7) years of experience in bridge or industrial machinery and equipment repair that includes welding, including three (3) months of experience directing the work of others.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include: Experience in an industrial/large commercial work environment, Experience at the journey level in electrical/plumbing/roofing/painting, Experience as a Crew Chief/Lead Worker/Foreman, Experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), Experience with building automation systems, Certified in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Bi/trilingual (English/Spanish/Creole).
