JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for managing the short and long-term activities involved in operating and maintaining Solar, DERS, and BESS generating assets for the Georgia Power fleet in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner while ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations, and environmental requirements. This position will set and communicate strategic direction, manage both capital and O&M budgets, and provide effective performance management and employee development.JOB REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree in engineering (or equivalent) is preferred. Extensive experience in Operations and/or Maintenance is required. Knowledge of Solar, DER, and BESS generating technologies and its impact on Southern Company Generation (SCGEN) Fleet Operations Experience in managing projects and maintenance activities Knowledge of safety, environmental and regulatory compliance requirements Demonstrated leadership experience in a supervisory role with performance management responsibilities required; experience leading exempt, non-exempt, and covered employees strongly preferred. Working knowledge of the Generation budgeting process including capital and O&M Proven risk assessment and decision-making skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Ability to build a strong team and create an inclusive work environment. Responsible for the safety culture and ensuring compliance with LOTO, Arc Flash, and Confined Space programs. Provide oversight and strategic direction for the operation and maintenance of Renewable, DERS, and BESS generating assets. Provide effective performance management and development of departmental teams and personnel to ensure a productive and highly motivated workforce. Ownership of overall Renewable and Resilient Generation Fleet Operations & Maintenance Strategy Oversight of contractors and vendors and execution of contracts. Ensure Fleet is supported with an adequate training program. Ensure external and internal partnerships are established and maintained. Responsible for the overall direction and strategy for the Fleet Develop and monitor department's capital and O&M budgets to ensure cost effective utilization of company assets and resources. Responsible for preparing to operate and maintain new Renewable and Resilient sites. Ownership ofERO, NERC
CIP, Cyber Security Provide oversight and effectively manage all plant compliance requirements. Ensure the proper planning and execution of maintenance activities. Ensure proper engineering processes, practices, and O&M standards are utilized for project design and execution Ensure proper and timely communication with all SCGEN support organizations. Strategic engagement with both internal and external partners (Southern Power, Industry peer groups, etc.) to ensure technological innovation while leveraging best practices.
