Job Description
Job Summary The Maintenance Supervisor plays a vital role in the success of our operations by ensuring that our fleet is always safe, compliant, and ready to roll. This position is responsible for overseeing all truck maintenance, coordinating prompt repairs for any damages, and proactively scheduling routine service to minimize downtime. In addition to managing fleet upkeep, the Maintenance Supervisor maintains the active driver list, assigns spare trucks as needed, and ensures drivers are always equipped to perform their jobs without interruption. This role requires a unique blend of mechanical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and leadership skills to keep our fleet running smoothly and efficiently. As a key leader within our operations, the Maintenance Supervisor not only safeguards the reliability of our trucks but also contributes directly to the safety and success of our drivers and the overall performance of the company. Responsibilities Approve all maintenance expenditures and timely repair estimates. Develop maintenance schedules and procedures for tractor-trailers. Ensure all equipment vehicles meet
DOT/FMCSA
requirements, including annual inspections, driver-reported defects, and maintenance recordkeeping. Conduct inspections and diagnostics on vehicles to identify issues related to engines, transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and HVAC. Track fleet performance metrics (e.g., downtime, cost per mile, PM compliance) and report findings to leadership. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean working environment. Respond to emergency breakdowns, ensuring timely roadside support or recovery. Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts used, and inventory management. Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries and concerns regarding fleet operations. Skills Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in car hauling. Familiarity with dealership operations. Proficient in the operation of heavy equipment and diesel. Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes. Experience with diesel engine repair, brake repair, alignment, shocks & struts, tire service, assembly, and equipment repair. Strong communication and personal skills. Capability to perform heavy lifting as required during repairs or maintenance tasks. Ability to proficiently use all Microsoft functions; Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook. As well as fleet maintenance systems. Excellent leadership skills with a focus on team collaboration and effective communication. Customer service-oriented mindset to foster positive relationships with clients.
