Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Maintenance Lead will report directly to Maintenance supervision. The Lead is responsible for ensuring optimal throughput of the production line by ensuring the maintenance upkeep of all equipment and machinery. This position will lead, coach, and develop the team to ensure an effective and positive culture. Additionally, the Maintenance Lead will be responsible for improving skills and knowledge of their team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership Conduct all work and communication in a respectful and professional manner. Facilitate a heathy work environment for all Crown employees. Coach and Lead maintenance personnel to facilitate a teamwork environment. Effectively collaborate with all departments to ensure all Crown expectations are met. Take full ownership for the department. Understand and uphold all of Crown Bakeries expectations and standard. Plant Efficiency Ensure uptime of equipment by managing systems and resources effectively. Track known and ongoing issues by means of KPI's and CMMS. Resolve known and ongoing issues in a timely manner. Determine rout cause of equipment failure and down time. Implement permanent solutions to equipment failure and down time. PM program Assist and lead your team to ensure the department meets the preventative maintenance plan. Understand and communicate the correct PM frequency of plant equipment. Keep up to date and accurate records of preventative maintenance. Conduct audits of the preventive maintenance program to ensure effectiveness and accuracy. Inventory Monitor systems and resources to ensure an accurate and organized inventory of parts. Identify critical spare parts and ensure they are stocked or readily available. Keep up to date and accurate records of all parts. Conduct audits of the inventory and management system to ensure compliance with expectations. Work with outside agencies and vendors to ensure part availability. Personnel Communicate personnel needs to ensure the proper head count is maintained in the maintenance department. Uphold the expectations within the department and company standers. Coordinate and conduct trainings to ensure all maintenance personnel are trained and capable. Keep up to date and accurate personnel records. Reporting Report down time and waste related to equipment issues. Report PM completion and compliance. Report inventory levels and gaps. Report personnel current state and openings within the maintenance department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Eight or more years of experience required Ability to lead and coach team members Full understanding of tools, equipment, and safety practices is desirable. Strong interest in learning and developing practical technical skills. Exceptional problem-solving ability and a keen attention to detail. Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new tasks and responsibilities. Ability to work well in a team environment and follow instructions. Basic computer skills to assist with reporting and logging tasks. Eagerness to learn and take on new responsibilities. Strong work ethic and a proactive attitude. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors. Physical stamina and ability to perform manual tasks and lift heavy items when needed. Ability to follow instructions carefully and adhere to safety guidelines. Technical Skills Bearings Inspect and identify bearings for failure Lubricate bearings Identify bearing's part numbers Identify bearing specifications without part number available Replace bearings Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Conveyance Inspect and identify wear on conveyor belting Inspect and identify wear on bed plates and wear stripping Replace conveyor belting Replace wear stripping Identify belt specification Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Filter Inspect and identify filters for buildup and tares Change filters Identify the specifications of a filter and determine if it the correct filter for the application Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Sprockets Inspect and identify wear on sprockets. Identify part numbers Identify sprocket specifications without part number available replace Sprockets Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Broach a keyway and add set screw Use a lathe to boar a sprocket Gears Inspect and identify wear on gears. Identify part numbers Identify gear specifications without part number available replace gears and set proper lashing Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Broach a keyway and add set screw Use a lathe to boar a gear Shafts Inspect and identify wear on shafts Identify shaft specifications Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Cut keyway into shaft Turn down a shaft in a lathe Chains Inspect and identify chain stretch and wear Identify chain specifications Remove links from a chain properly install, tension, and align chains Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Drive Belts Inspect and identify belt stretch and wear Identify belt specifications properly install, tension, and align belts Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Electrical Controls Interface with equipment HMI's Visually identify if signaling components such as photo eyes, prox's, limit switches, and read switchers are operating properly visually Identify tripped brakers and overloads Document and reset faults on a VFD Use a multimeter to determine if a fuse is bad both while energize and deenergized Use a multimeter to read resistance of electrical components and wires to troubleshoot shorts in a circuit and failed electrical components Use a multimeter to troubleshoot faulty contacts Use a multimeter to understand the state of a relay Replace faulty push buttons, switches, relays, contactors, overloads, and fuses. visually identify faults on a PLC Use PLC input and out visual indicators for troubleshooting Replace signaling components Use a multimeter to determine if a signaling component is operating properly Read electrical schematics Replace and program a VFD replace a PLC output or input card Plug a laptop into a PLC and read logic for basic troubleshooting purposes Coordinate and communicate with OEM or other resources to resolve PLC issues remotely Motors Identify the power source of a motor Look, listen and smell to determine possible issues with and electric motor Identify a motor by reading and deciphering a nameplate Remove, install and wire and electric motor Reverse the polarity of an electric motor Use a multimeter to determine if a motor has failed Operate a meager to determine if a motor has failed Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Gearboxes Inspect for oil leaks Identify proper oil level on a gearbox and add or replace oil as needed Remove, install and align a gearbox Identify a gearbox by reading and deciphering the nameplate Replace seals on a gearbox Identify the ratio, shaft size or boar of a gearbox without reading a nameplate Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Cylinders Inspect and identify wear on cylinders, clevises, fittings, and mounting components replace cylinders Troubleshoot a cylinder for blowby Identify a cylinder by reading and deciphering information found on an the cylinder Determine the stroke of a cylinder Take apart and replace failed components Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Valves Inspect valves for wear and leaks Replace valves Troubleshoot a valve for proper operation Confirm proper operation of a valve Identify a valve by reading and deciphering information found on a valve Take apart and replace failed components Identify rout cause failure and implement improvements Welding MIG welding Stick welding TIG welding Sanitary Welding Shop Tools Able to safely and effectively use cutting tool such and grinder, saws, and shirs Able to safely and effectively use a press Able to safely and effectively use a drill Able to safely and effectively use welders Able to safely and effectively use electric sanders and grinders Able to safely and effectively use parts washer Able to safely and effectively use mill Able to safely and effectively use lathe
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a production environment. The employee is frequently exposed to facility elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and filing cabinets.
