This position is responsible for the maintenance of City swimming pools, splash pads and drinking fountains. Under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor, the Aquatics Maintenance Crew Chief performs the necessary duties to support the Recreation & Leisure Services Division. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assess, troubleshoot, repair and maintain recirculation/filtration systems, chemical feeding systems, pumps, valves, motors, backflow valves, controllers, and cleaning facilities. Coordinates, assigns, and reviews work; implements work schedules assigned by Supervisor; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Inspects, cleans, and performs routine equipment preventive maintenance; ensures suitable operating condition. Visually examines sites and structures to determine extent of required remedial action; reports circumstances to management and notifies available qualified personnel and organizations. Assists supervisor in training and orientation of less knowledgeable employees by explaining and demonstrating work performed.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, and tools utilized in the repair and services of various types of mechanical equipment. Knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing theory used to repair and maintain equipment and electronic components. Knowledge of local, State and Federal safety and health requirements for aquatic facilities. Knowledge of city and department policies and procedures. Knowledge of general maintenance and repair procedures. Knowledge of maintenance and construction procedures, equipment, and materials. Skill in the operation of lawn maintenance equipment. Skill in the operation of hand and power tools. Must exhibit attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Must be able to communicate and present oneself in a professional manner. Must be able to perform mathematical calculations with respect to dosages and chemical mixing and use. Ability to effectively and efficiently operate tools used to perform duties. Ability to establish and maintain effective working and professional relationships with City employees and officials, and the general public. Ability to take and follow oral instructions. Ability to read, understand and apply manuals and instructions. Ability to write and keep reports.
