POSITON SUMMARY
T his position is accountable for supplying safe and reliable buses to allow for the daily delivery of reliable bus service for the riding pub lic for an entire depot/shop. This involves developing, implementing and maintaining strict budgets, including material forecasting and usage monitoring; managing a full-scale disciplinary and labor relations process; and directing managers an d supervisors to accomplish depot/division goals. Direct the day - to-day facilities and equipment maintenance for the depot.
RESPONS I BILITIES
Direct all the bus maintenance functions of a depot/shop, including direct responsibility for the performance of subordinate managers in meeting bus availability needs and to ensure safe and reliable service. This includes overseeing day-to-day facilities and equipment maintenance activities. Direct the preparation of annual resource requirements; review and control budget adherence for both personnel & OTPS; identify and implement cost control and other productivity measures; administer contracts with outside vendors; and participate in policy formulation and depot/shop operations. Coordinate activities with the Transportation Division and the community at large in response to daily problems and changing priorities. Ensure coordination of depot/shop operations and develop contingency plans in response to changing conditions or problems. Direct the full range of labor relations activities for the depot/shop; including administering labor agreements; implementing discipline; addressing grievances; defining depot objectives for labor negotiations and act on behalf of the depot in union matters. Direct the development and implementation of equipment quality control, safety and employee training programs to ensure that equipment and personnel operate safely and effectively.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Eight (8) years of related experience, including a minimum of four (4) years of managerial/ supervisory experience.
DESIRED SKILLS
Must have one year in the title of Superintendent. Maintenance or equivalent. The ability to make decisions rapidly and under pressure. Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance operations, labor relations and equipment specifications.
SELECTION METHOD
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, interview, and written assessment. All selected candidates will be subject to a full background investigation that includes employment and education. Discrepancies may lead to dismissal.
