Job Description

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Supervisor or designated proxy, coordinate maintenance staff and the upkeep of Township buildings, grounds, and equipment. Oversee routine and corrective maintenance of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and related systems; perform maintenance work with staff; and complete other duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:
  • Supervise, assign, and support daily work activities of maintenance staff; communicate and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
  • Plan, organize, and direct facility maintenance operations and preventive maintenance activities, and inform maintenance staff on procedures, safety practices, and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate meeting/banquet room setups and breakdowns; ensure spaces are ready for scheduled use.
  • Maintain marquee sign and flag hardware, including routine replacement/adjustments.
  • Assist staff and the public with moving and setup activities, including lifting/hauling furniture.
  • Support holiday and special-event decorating as assigned.
  • Open, close, and secure facilities as required.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and timeliness.
  • Perform and complete maintenance projects as needed to provide coverage and meet operational deadlines.
  • Maintain employee schedules and time records; obtain Supervisor approval for nonstandard hours.
  • Research proposals, coordinate vendors, and oversee contractor work for building repairs, cleaning, and landscaping.
  • Schedule and document required inspections/testing (e.g., emergency lighting, fire alarm/suppression systems, extinguishers, detectors).
  • Coordinate fleet inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Coordinate floor and carpet cleaning for Township facilities.
  • Maintain interior and exterior lighting systems for Township-owned/controlled facilities.
  • Maintain custodial and maintenance supply inventory (e.g., paper products, chemicals, liners).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekday evenings and weekends, as needed for special events and operational requirements.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in all seasons.
  • Ability to perform physical job functions, including lifting, climbing ladders, snow removal, and operating power equipment.
EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years of equivalent experience in general maintenance, including the ability to recognize electrical, plumbing, and mechanical malfunctions and equipment failures.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and demonstrate initiative.
  • Professional, courteous customer-service skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
