Summary :
Responsible to direct, coordinate and manage shift maintenance activities with the Frozen Products plant. Provide general supervision to personnel responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing existing and new equipment. Direct equipment repairs as necessary. Coordinate maintenance efforts with on-shift production management. Maintain assigned maintenance programs. Provide technical support to maintenance personnel. Train maintenance personnel to the standards of each job in the department. Interpret, explain, and fairly enforce company policy and procedures to employees. Responsible to seek understanding of communications by clearly expressing facts and asking follow-up questions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND REQUIREMENTS
Work Schedule:
Attend regularly and on time to an appointed position with a five (5) or six (6) day (40 to 60 hours weekly, with an average of 45) work schedule. To be available by phone to provide 24-hour technical assistance to the facility and respond to the plant in person if needed.
Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements:
1. Manage and direct a plant maintenance work force consisting of maintenance personnel who possess general skill for performing frozen dough maintenance job functions. Investigate all disciplinary situations and determine course of action. Conduct or participate in investigations and take first corrective action. 2. Coordinate scheduling efforts with Maintenance Manager for shift personnel to provide the balanced coverage required to service the plant during shift, scheduling days off, and revising them to achieve optimum coverage in terms of labor and individual expertise. Make schedule recommendations in accordance with Department and Company policy. 3. Ensure all assigned maintenance programs are performed properly and at the specified periods. Monitor program for quality and consistency on an ongoing basis. Recommend and provide leadership in revision to maintenance programs with departmental and plant management. 4. Requisition tools, parts, and equipment to accomplish assigned tasks. Authorize emergency equipment, materials, parts, and tools for plant maintenance in the absence of upper management. 5. Recommend and collaborate with other management personnel regarding decisions related to breakdown options. 6. Provide technical and hands-on assistance to maintenance employees as required. 7. Provide leadership for Emergency Response Team, ensuring that all personnel are trained and ready and all equipment is in order and available. 8. Promote company policies, safety, quality assurance and cost savings through planned meeting and personal contact with employees. 9. Plan, direct and complete all special assignment and projects as directed by upper management. 10. Maintain equitable relationships with other departments.
Secondary Functions:
Job responsibilities are varied, and subject to change, therefore, special short-term projects and assignments may be created on a case-by-case basis.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
1. Preparation and Training Work requires the ability to read, write and speak English. Work requires technical training to read electrical schematic drawings and equipment blueprints as well as the ability to prepare drawings. Must possess training in, and a thorough working knowledge of, industrial electrical and electronic controls, including hard-wired and solid-state systems and related components, PLC's, and hardware & software computer system. 2. Work Experience Job requires a minimum of three to five years of progressively more responsible maintenance engineering experience 3. Analytical Ability A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult technical problems. 4. Independent Judgment And Consequences Of Errors Responsible for planning, checking and/or instructing of directing the work of other employees. Requires a very high level of dependability and leadership skills. Work is performed under pressure, and/or periodically requires intense mental application or attention to detail. 5. Contact with Others a. Inside the company Daily communications with all levels of management and subordinates relating to equipment operation, production schedule changes, availability of parts and equipment. b. Outside the company Equipment suppliers and manufacturers as needed to discuss equipment problems, exchange technical information and search for equipment improvements. 6. Supervision Of Others Directly manages maintenance personnel. Coordinates task efforts with off shift Maintenance Management and maintenance personnel. VI.
