Landscaping Crew Leader

We're hiring a Landscape Crew Leader to oversee and work alongside a crew performing residential and commercial landscape maintenance in Springfield, IL . This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates well, and can train and motivate team members while ensuring high-quality results. As a Landscape Maintenance Leader, you'll be responsible for keeping jobs on schedule, maintaining safety and quality standards, and training crew members in best practices for lawn care, plant health, and equipment use. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a landscape maintenance crew daily Train and mentor new and existing crew members on proper landscaping techniques and safety procedures Perform hands-on landscape maintenance tasks, including: Hedge trimming and shrub shaping Mulching and decorative rock installation Planting trees, shrubs, and flowers Gutter cleaning and pressure washing Weeding and seasonal cleanups Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards Communicate with management about job progress, materials needed, and any issues Operate and maintain landscaping tools and equipment Load/unload tools and materials at the beginning and end of each workday Requirements 1+ year of landscape maintenance experience required; leadership experience strongly preferred Ability to lead and train team members with a positive, hands-on approach Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions for extended periods Comfortable using mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other landscaping tools Valid Illinois driver's license required (ability to drive company vehicles and trailers) Dependable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious Strong communication and organizational skills Schedule Monday-Friday | 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM (end times may vary) Occasional weekends or longer hours during peak season or weather delays Benefits $19-$23/hour based on experience Overtime and performance bonuses Opportunities for advancement into management roles Paid training and supportive team environment Company-provided tools and uniforms Take pride in your leadership and landscaping skills — apply today and help us grow a stronger, greener Springfield!
