Job Overview Join our dynamic pavement maintenance team as a Line Striping Crew Lead/Pavement Maintenance Technician ! In this energetic role, you will lead a crew responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of line striping, pavement markings, and various asphalt maintenance services on differing projects. Your expertise will ensure safe, durable, and visually clear roadway, parking lot, and sports field markings, contributing to vital civil infrastructure and city maintenance efforts. This position offers the opportunity to work with heavy equipment, oversee project execution, and lead safety and quality standards on diverse sites. Responsibilities
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Lead and coordinate a team of crew members in line striping, pavement marking, and asphalt maintenance activities across multiple projects. Operate heavy equipment including line stripers, asphalt hotboxes, infrared heaters, UTVs, and Sealcoat machines to prepare surfaces and apply markings efficiently. Perform manual handling tasks such as surface cleaning, marking layout, and applying paint or thermoplastic materials with precision. Ensure all work complies with FMCSA regulations and safety standards; conduct regular safety briefings and site inspections. Oversee utility locating to prevent damage during pavement work; collaborate with project managers to meet project timelines. Maintain mechanical knowledge of equipment to troubleshoot issues promptly; perform routine inspections and minor repairs as needed. Document work progress accurately through reports and logs; communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations. Qualifications
WHAT YOU BRING
An Illinois driver's license with a clean driving record and a reliable mode of transportation Must have line painting experience or machine painting experience Ability to read drawings/blueprints for new layouts of paint projects You are a self-motivated, critical thinker that likes to problem solve You understand the importance of punctuality, organization, and attention to detail Ability to work in a physically demanding role with lots of walking, bending, and lifting (up to 75lbs) Ability to work well independently unsupervised Past experience with small engines (like lawnmowers) and/or paint sprayers is an asset An ability to work in the outdoor heat Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as line stripers, asphalt hotboxes, infrared heaters, UTVs, and Sealcoat machines Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues efficiently. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations related to commercial vehicle operation; valid CDL license preferred but not required. Construction site experience focusing on parking lot maintenance or utility work is highly desirable. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; physically fit for manual handling tasks over long shifts. Familiarity with utility locating techniques to avoid underground hazards during pavement work.
