Job Description
Position Summary The Maintenance Lead provides advanced electrical and mechanical expertise and oversees the daily activities of the maintenance team to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted plant operations. This position serves as the technical lead for electrical systems, coordinates maintenance tasks, mentor technicians, and assists the Maintenance Manager with planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Maintenance Lead will perform hands-on maintenance work and act as a resource for troubleshooting complex electrical and equipment issues or any other task assigned by the Maintenance Manager. Principle Duties and Responsibilities Lead, guide, and support Maintenance Technicians in daily activities and troubleshooting. Serve as the primary technical expert for electrical systems, including installation, diagnostics, and repair Prioritize, assign, and follow up on maintenance tasks to ensure timely completions and equipment readiness. Perform advanced electrical/mechanical installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and modifications to production equipment. Read, interpret, and apply electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and ladder logic diagrams. Install and maintain electrical conduit, wiring, control panels and motor starters. Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs; provide recommendations for improvement. Perform metal fabrication work, including welding when required. Ensure proper installation and maintenance of single and 3-phase electrical equipment up to 480V AC & DC Assist the Maintenance Manager with inventory control of parts, tools, and supplies. Coordinate with production and engineering teams to reduce downtime and optimize equipment performance. Train and mentor maintenance staff in safe work practices, electrical procedures, and equipment knowledge. Maintain accurate documentation, including work orders, electrical diagrams, and equipment records. Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and National Electrical Code requirements. Must be qualified and able to operate company vehicles and possess a valid driver's license. Experience and Education Required High School Diploma / GED required Technical trade school or equivalent background in mechanical/electrical required. Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, including significant electrical systems work. Prior experience in a lead, senior technician, team-leader, or supervisory role preferred. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair complex electrical and mechanical systems Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code and its application in industrial environments. Physical Abilities Physically able in strength, agility and endurance to safely perform all job duties. Ability to lift objects sometimes in excess of 50 pounds Ability to work off ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms, sometimes in excess of 20 feet.
