About the
Role:
The Lead Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance, safety, and reliability of mechanical systems and equipment within the organization. This position involves overseeing and performing complex diagnostic, repair, and maintenance tasks on a variety of vehicles and machinery. The Lead Mechanic is responsible for leading a team of mechanics, providing technical guidance, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. This role requires collaboration with management to schedule maintenance, manage parts inventory, and implement process improvements. Ultimately, the Lead Mechanic ensures that all mechanical operations run smoothly, minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Certification as an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) mechanic or equivalent.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, diagnostic tools, and repair techniques.

Valid drivers license and ability to operate various types of vehicles and machinery.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate degree or technical certification in automotive technology or mechanical engineering.

Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).Previous experience leading a team in a fast-paced mechanical workshop environment.

Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA regulations.

Advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with modern electronic systems.
Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise a team of mechanics in daily maintenance and repair activities.

Diagnose mechanical issues using specialized tools and equipment, and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment failures.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all mechanical operations.

Train and mentor junior mechanics to enhance their technical skills and knowledge.

Manage parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of necessary components.

Collaborate with management to plan and prioritize repair work and maintenance projects.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections for reporting and auditing purposes.

The Lead Mechanic utilizes strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills daily to identify and resolve complex equipment issues efficiently. Leadership and communication skills are essential for managing and mentoring the mechanic team, ensuring clear instructions and fostering a collaborative work environment. Organizational skills are applied to maintain accurate maintenance records and manage parts inventory effectively.
