Hotel Head of Maintenance

The Holiday Inn Express is hiring for a Head of Maintenance. Job Overview Perform preventive and regular maintenance and repairs to all areas of the hotel. Responsible for maintaining a clean and organised maintenance shop and for the security of hotel inventory and assets such as tools, supplies, furniture, fixtures, and equipment. At Holiday Inn Express, we look for people who are welcoming and can focus on the things that really matter to our guests-and get them right every time Duties and responsibilities Financial returns: Contribute in the preparation of the annual departmental operating budget and financial plans. Monitor budget and control expenses with a focus on energy management, preventive maintenance, and capital planning. Support hotel renovations and other projects; contribute in the negotiation of contracts. Help drive improvements in team member engagement that are aligned with the service philosophy.

People:

Manage day-to-day staffing requirements, plan and assign work, and establish performance and development goals for employees. Provide mentoring, coaching and regular feedback to help manage conflict and improve employee performance. Educate and train all employees in compliance with governmental and safety regulations. Ensure staff is properly trained and has the tools and equipment to carry out job duties. Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments. Communicate with all hotel department heads to stay informed of maintenance needs and ensure timely responses to requests.

Guest experience:

Understand and respond to customer's needs and ensure a high level of guest satisfaction. Carry out preventive maintenance programme to ensure facility is maintained and in service for our guests (example: lighting, refrigeration, heating, air-conditioning, water treatment systems, etc.) Responsible business: Maintain and order parts and supplies in a timely and efficient manner while minimising waste and maintaining "green" initiatives. May be responsible for hotel security to minimise risk of theft, crime and other hazards. Perform other duties as assigned. May also serve as manager on duty. Accountability This is the lead maintenance job in a small, limited-service, single-site hotel with a limited range of facilities. May supervise a small maintenance staff. Qualifications and Requirements Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional certification and license, if required by law. Hotel experience preferred. Must be able to speak local language(s). This job requires the ability to perform the following Carrying, lifting, pulling or pushing items weighing up to 100 pounds/45 kilograms - 300 pounds/136 kilograms Frequently standing up and moving about the facility Frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility Frequently bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing and crawling Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical skills, preventive maintenance procedures, and reasonable understanding of building equipment and hand tools. Communication skills are used frequently when interacting with the other hotel staff and hotel guests Reading and writing abilities are used to document or record all tasks completed, to order supplies, to receive instructions for the day or to read equipment repair manuals Mathematical skills, including basic math, are used frequently Have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and/or holidays The statements in this job description are intended to represent the key duties and level of work being performed.
