Job Description

About the role We run a glamping retreat center focused on delivering a seamless, high-quality experience for every guest who stays with us. The property is our product — and keeping it in excellent shape is what makes everything else possible. The Property + Maintenance Manager is the person who knows this land better than anyone. You keep the trails clear, the firewood stocked, the equipment running, and the property looking its best day in and day out. When something breaks or a guest has an issue on a weekend night, you're the one we call — and you handle it calmly and competently. This is a live-on-site role. On-site housing is provided as part of your compensation package, making this a strong fit for someone who wants to be embedded in a place they're proud to maintain. You'll work closely with the owners and will be the first line of response for property issues, contractor coordination, and hands-on projects of all kinds. Responsibilities Weekly Property Maintenance Trash collection — collection and disposal of trash across the full property and taken to the curb Trail work — ongoing maintenance and clearing of guest trails Firewood — splitting, stacking, and restocking for guest sites Receive deliveries — accepting and organizing incoming orders and supplies On Call for Guest Needs (Weekend Only•9am•9pm) Be available on-call during retreat and short-term rental weekends to respond to guest issues as they arise Common calls include fireplace troubleshooting, insects or wildlife in tents, vehicles stuck in the driveway, equipment not working, and similar on-the-ground needs Respond promptly, handle issues directly where possible, and communicate clearly with guests in a calm, professional manner consistent with our brand standards Escalate to the General Manager when needed, with a clear and accurate account of the situation Misc. Property Improvement Projects Misc hands-on projects — examples could include fixing gravel, powerwash decks, installing AC units, repairing equipment such as the log splitter, putting together furniture Meet with and coordinate subcontractors on-site — electricians, plumbers, and specialty vendors — ensuring work is scoped, scheduled, and completed to standard Identify maintenance needs proactively, flagging issues before they become problems for guests Maintain an organized approach to tools, supplies, and project tracking What we're looking for Experience & Skills Genuinely handy — comfortable with a wide range of physical property tasks and able to figure out what you don't already know Strong problem-solver who stays calm when things go sideways and finds a path forward without needing to be told what to do Reliable and self-directed — you take ownership of the property and show up without being managed Good communicator, both in person and in writing — able to interact with guests in a warm, professional way that reflects well on the property Comfortable working independently across a variety of task types in a single day Practical Requirements Must be willing and able to live on-site — this is a condition of the role Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license Availability to be on-call during retreat and STR weekends Physical capability to perform hands-on outdoor work in all seasons: lifting, hauling, trail clearing, and similar tasks Consistent, reliable communication — responding to messages promptly and keeping the owners informed Background Check Required Compensation Compensation for this role is in trade for full time housing at Dappled Light Adventures. DLA covers all utilities (WiFi, water, electric, and trash) This is in exchange for 10 hours of labor per week Any overtime hours (more than 10 hours a week) must be approved by ownership team and will be compensated at $20/hour Schedule On call Friday, Saturday 9am•9pm and Sunday 9am•12pm All other responsibilities can be done at any time during the week
