Job Description

This position serves as one of the Highway Foreman's for Bienville Parish. The incumbent is required to have specialized knowledge of the use of heavy equipment and computers, and tablets. Must be knowledgeable in safe operation of passenger vehicles as well as other equipment operated by Highway Foreman 1's. This position requires the incumbent to possess and maintain licensing in the following areas Class A CDL License. Four years of experience in the construction, maintenance, or repair of roads, bridges, levees, drainage facilities, wharfs, buildings, or grounds; OR Four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of industrial or heavy mobile equipment.

Job Duties:
Supervises a 5-6 member highway maintenance crew in the safe operation of heavy equipment and performance of road maintenance activities, including traffic control, pothole patching, drainage work, mowing, and construction tasks. Coordinates daily work assignments, schedules maintenance and repairs with the Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent, and supports crew training, evaluations, and performance management. Assists with oversight of equipment maintenance and ensures accurate reporting and documentation of work activities, labor, equipment, and materials. Addresses complaints and service requests from public officials, property owners, and the general public by taking appropriate corrective action. Responds to emergencies on a 24-hour basis and serves in the absence of the Parish Highway Maintenance Superintendent as needed, including supporting disaster response efforts. This position requires a Class "A" CDL before appointment.
