Job Description
SUMMARY This is the second of five levels in the Management series. Assists in oversight and management of staff: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; monitoring budgets, reviewing program activities; and providing overall program guidance to work crews and crew foremen. In consultation with Assistant Director or Director, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary determinations. Incumbents do not regularly participate in the tasks of the work crews they supervise.
ESSENTIAL CLASS DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

Coordinates and supervises staff to include: prioritizing and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff are trained; ensuring that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Prepares cost estimates for budget recommendations; submits justifications for budget items; monitors and controls expenditures. Assist Assistant Director or Director in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs within their area of operations. Applies policies and procedures; ensures applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, laws, and policies are complied with. Oversees initiatives within their area of operations for the enhancement and improvement of service delivery. Assumes other Superintendents duties in their absence. Review performance data to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress, and activity levels their particular area of operations. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises a group of skilled and unskilled workers in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree and one year related experience, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Prefer Bachelor's Degree in field related to area of responsibility.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement or Commercial Driver's License (CDL) as determined by the Management;

Light Work:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, odors, dusts, chemicals, and intense noises.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. UNIFORM An employee in this position will be supplied with a uniform, provided by the District. The employee is responsible for abiding by the District's Uniform Agreement.
