Our Locations Area 129 — 129 Newbury St, Boston, MA (Back Bay) Area 207 — 207 Newbury St, Boston, MA (Back Bay) Area 56 — 56 Wareham St, Boston, MA (South End) Area 58 — 58 Kent St, Brookline Village, MA Area 80 — 80 Langley Road, Newton Centre, MA About the Role Area Salon Studios is seeking a skilled, reliable Maintenance Technician to join us as an independent contractor to help maintain our luxury salon studio locations throughout Greater Boston. This position is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional, facilities technician, or tradesperson who works with multiple clients and is looking for consistent recurring work with flexibility. The Maintenance Technician will conduct routine property rounds, assess and repair issues across a range of trades, perform preventative maintenance, respond to maintenance requests, and help ensure our locations remain in first-class condition for our tenants and their clients. Most work will take place in the mornings to minimize disruptions to salon operations. Schedule & Compensation Independent contractor (1099) position On average 12-15 hours per week, though hours may vary higher on occasion depending on project needs Flexible scheduling — either preset recurring days or self-directed, with the expectation that most work takes place in the mornings to minimize disruption to tenants and their clients Travel between Area Salon Studios locations required $30/hour Additional compensation for emergency and after-hours service calls Mileage reimbursement for travel between locations Ideal for an experienced tradesperson who currently works with multiple clients Responsibilities Perform routine property inspections and maintenance rounds across all locations Assess and repair issues across a broad range of trades including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, tile, carpet, walls, flooring, painting, and more Respond to tenant maintenance requests promptly and professionally Complete general repairs and preventative maintenance Coordinate and oversee outside vendors and contractors for work beyond your scope or licensing Maintain a clean, professional, and safe environment throughout all locations Assist with studio turnover, furniture assembly, installations, and miscellaneous projects Identify issues proactively before they become larger problems Qualifications Minimum 2 years of experience in maintenance, construction, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or appliance repair — multi-trade experience strongly preferred Ability to assess and perform repairs across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, tile, carpet, walls, flooring, painting, and general carpentry Must have own tools and equipment Reliable personal transportation and valid driver's license Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision Professional appearance and communication skills — comfortable working in occupied, client-facing environments Must be comfortable handling routine repairs independently and knowing when to coordinate a licensed vendor for work beyond your scope Preferred Experience managing or maintaining commercial properties Existing relationships with local plumbers, electricians, HVAC contractors, painters, locksmiths, and other service vendors in the Greater Boston area Currently operating as an independent contractor or sole proprietor with own liability insurance
