Job Description

Lead Maintenance Technician JOB INFORMATIONNon-exempt (compensatory and/or overtime eligible); full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; full-benefits; subject to office-wide reassignmentAdditional compensation to include:
  • County-issued tools
  • County-issued PPE
  • $350.00 annual uniform allotment
  • $200.00 annual safety shoe reimbursement
  • Paid HVAC training opportunities with manufactures such as: Mitsubishi, Trane, Daikin, Manitowoc, & Bard
  • Paid Electrical training opportunities in partnership with MS Electrical Training & Capital Electric Inc.
  • Assorted safety related trainings
  • CDL trainingThis technical and supervisory position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems and equipment throughout Frederick County buildings and facilities.
Supervision is given to Maintenance Technicians and private contractors.
NOTE:
The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate, with limited exception.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish overall work objectives for staff; assign, coordinate, review and evaluate work performance; complete performance evaluations, administer employee disciplinary actions
  • Supervise, approve leave, and time sheets.
  • Monitor building and project budgets, assist with department budget process
  • Prepare and/or assist with price proposals (RFPs or IFBs) for procurement of materials and or services
  • Prepare and/ or assist with providing cost estimates for repairs, installation and maintenance of plumbing systems
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of County plumbing systems ensuring that work complies with OSHA and MOSH safety guidelines
  • Work with, monitor and supervise the work of outside contractors as necessary
  • Inspect jobs and estimate the amount and type of materials needed
  • Coordinate building projects around various schedules
  • for building permits and coordinate inspections when required
  • Perform work in accordance with the Preventive Maintenance Program; implement and maintain preventive maintenance procedures on facilities equipment and structures
  • Perform maintenance, repair and maintain proper operation of mechanical systems
  • Utilize the County's asset management and work request software-Cartegraph
  • Assist with establishing and or modifying a preventive maintenance program for mechanical equipment
  • Respond to maintenance and construction issues as they arise
  • Inspect, repair and certify building mechanical systems
  • As needed, drive County vehicle to worksites
