Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Maintenance Supervisor to lead our facilities maintenance team in ensuring optimal operations. The Maintenance Supervisor oversees daily operations of the maintenance shop, ensuring all diesel trucks, recycling vehicles, and support equipment are properly maintained, repaired, and compliant with safety standards. This role supervises mechanics, manages vendor relationships, controls parts inventory, and ensures timely completion of repairs to support efficient fleet operations. Shop & Fleet Operations Supervise day-to-day activities of mechanics and technicians Schedule and prioritize repairs for diesel and non-diesel trucks Ensure preventative maintenance (PM) programs are followed Minimize downtime and maximize fleet availability Monitor quality of repairs and ensure compliance with company standards 2. Team Supervision Assign daily workloads and monitor performance of mechanics Train, coach, and develop shop employees Enforce safety policies and procedures Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback 3. Maintenance & Repairs Oversee diagnosis and repair of: Diesel engines Hydraulic systems Braking systems Electrical and mechanical components Ensure all work is completed accurately and efficiently 5. Compliance & Safety Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and environmental regulations Maintain inspection logs and service records Conduct routine safety inspections of fleet and shop equipment Investigate and report incidents or equipment failures 6. Budget & Reporting Assist in managing maintenance budget Track repair costs and identify cost-saving opportunities Prepare reports on fleet performance and maintenance trends Monitor labor hours and productivity Required Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED (required) Associate degree or technical certification in diesel mechanics, automotive technology, or related field (preferred) Experience 5+ years of experience in diesel/automotive maintenance 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience Experience working with: Fleet maintenance (trucks, waste/recycling vehicles preferred) Vendor and parts management Shop operations Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills Leadership and team management abilities Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations Inventory and purchasing management Problem-solving and decision-making skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Certifications (Preferred) ASE Certification(s) CDL (Commercial Driver's License) - a plus OSHA safety training
Pay:
$85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per hour
