SUPPORT STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION
Maintenance Director Reports to:
Superintendent/ Director of Operations General Summary:
The Maintenance Director is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, repair, and improvement of all district facilities and grounds for the Centralia R-VI School District. This position ensures that all buildings, systems, equipment, and campus environments are safe, functional, clean, and well-maintained to support student learning and district operations. The Maintenance Director supervises maintenance personnel, coordinates preventative maintenance programs, manages facility projects, and ensures compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and district policies. Essential Functions
  • Direct and supervise all district maintenance and custodial operations.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
  • Coordinate and oversee repairs, renovations, and facility improvement projects.
  • Inspect district facilities and grounds to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage maintenance department budgets, purchasing, and inventory control.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate maintenance and custodial staff.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Respond to facility emergencies and urgent maintenance needs as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, fire codes, environmental standards, and district safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, and equipment servicing.
  • Assist with long-range facility planning and capital improvement recommendations.
  • Support district events and activities requiring facility setup or operational assistance. Qualifications Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, building operations, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license. Preferred
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in facilities management, construction management, or related field.
  • Experience working in a school district or public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of school safety standards and regulatory compliance.
  • HVAC, boiler, or electrical certifications. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, stoop, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies outside regular work hours when necessary.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation of Support Staff Personnel.

Twelve (12) months. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
