JOB SUMMARY

The Maintenance and Custodial Supervisor ensures effective leadership of all maintenance and custodial staff and supports both grounds and building maintenance across the district. This role helps provide students, staff, and families with a clean, attractive, welcoming, and well-functioning physical learning environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversees and performs repairs to building, plumbing, lighting, and general repair Performs weekend security checks required (security checks divided between this position and other facilities personnel) Determines maintenance and custodial priorities on a week to week basis Establishes cadence with the Director of Construction, Grounds and Buildings to review project and budget status Services and maintains all district-owned equipment, tools, supplies and vehicles Stores, inventories and makes recommendations on the purchase or replacement of all district-owned tools, equipment, and supplies Provides input on equipment acquisition and budget Provides guidance and recommendations on hiring and termination decisions. Diagnoses and identifies light equipment parts to order for repair Loads and unloads trucks; spreads sand, gravel, and dirt; moves and carries heavy materials such as pipe, lumber, gravel, sand, and furniture Operates mechanized equipment including but not limited to motor vehicles, vacuum sweeper, tractor, grass mower, and snowplow Assists skilled workers in a variety of assignments such as digging and refilling ditches, breaking concrete, mixing mortar, asphalt repair, and running errands Shovels snow from sidewalks and driveways and spread sand, salt, or cinders to prevent slipping Removes litter and performs landscaping duties to maintain and care for school grounds Repairs and installs fences and outdoor playground equipment Provides training, supervision, and evaluation of district maintenance and building custodial staff Provide guided direction to maintenance and custodial staff Conduct routine check-ins with maintenance and custodial staff Be available to and communicate with staff Establish schedules/routines for staff Monitor/approve staff time sheets and absences Evaluate and maintain appropriate budgets for the maintenance and custodial areas Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, TRAINING

AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED required or equivalent experience HVAC Universal Certification, preferred Electrical and Plumbing experience AHERA Awareness Training Possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered to meet the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

KNOWLEDGE

Understands best practices and standards for general maintenance and custodial services Safety regulations and district policies related to facilities and grounds

SKILLS Effective Communication:

Strong verbal and written communication skills to present project evaluations and updates in addition to writing clear, concise plans, and reports and for individuals or groups

Organizational and Time Management:

Highly skilled in organizing and managing multiple concurrent tasks effectively and efficiently

Mathematical Skills:

Apply mathematical concepts such as fractions, ratios, percentages, and statistical analysis to practical and instructional contexts

Technology Skills:

Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the individual is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear, and walk throughout the day. The role involves extended periods of computer work. The employee may need to speak and hear in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously. The employee may need to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, and occasionally may need to lift up to 75 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Additionally, the position may involve regular travel within the district. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated annually according to Board of Education policy and established district standards.
