The ideal candidate will be a results-driven individual with a strong background in the automotive industry, excellent leadership skills, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The Automotive Manager will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, managing staff, driving sales and/or service revenue, and ensuring the overall profitability and success of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of automotive technicians, service advisors, or sales associates. Set performance goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews. Develop and implement training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. Foster a positive and productive work environment that encourages teamwork and professional growth. Handle employee relations, including hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions, in coordination with HR.
Operational Oversight:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company policies and procedures. Monitor inventory levels of parts, supplies, and/or vehicles, and place orders as needed. Ensure all work is completed accurately, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Oversee scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation to maximize productivity. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, in compliance with all relevant safety regulations.
Financial and Sales Performance:
Develop and manage the department's budget, including revenue and expense forecasting. Analyze financial reports and sales data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Implement strategies to increase sales, service revenue, and profitability. Manage pricing, promotions, and marketing efforts to attract and retain customers. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as gross profit, customer satisfaction scores (CSI), and technician efficiency.
Customer Service Excellence:
Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer concerns and resolving issues promptly and professionally. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, encouraging repeat business and positive reviews. Oversee the customer intake and vehicle delivery process, ensuring a smooth and transparent experience. Uphold the company's reputation for integrity, quality, and outstanding service.
Qualifications:
Proven experience in an automotive management role (Service Manager, Sales Manager, etc.). Strong knowledge of automotive service procedures, parts, and/or vehicle sales processes. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage a team and drive performance. Solid understanding of financial principles, budgeting, and profit/loss management. Proficiency with dealership management systems (DMS) and other relevant software. Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Commitment to maintaining a safe and professional work environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Automotive Technology, or a related field is a plus. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
