Job Description
Chatham United Methodist Church is seeking a dependable, hands-on Facilities and Custodial Coordinator to care for and support our church property, including our on-site preschool. This full-time, in-person role combines daily cleaning, routine maintenance, preventive maintenance, seasonal upkeep, and support for church and preschool operations. We are looking for someone who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming building and who can work independently while responding to the day-to-day needs of an active church community. Candidates should be within close commute distance of the church.

Approximately 40 hours per week Pay:
$24-$27 Benefits:

Gratuity for funerals, burials, weddings, and special functions Responsibilities Clean classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, offices, and common areas Empty trash, recycling, and diaper bins; sweep, vacuum, and mop floors Refill restroom supplies, wipe down surfaces, dust, and handle deeper cleaning as needed Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance, safety, and housekeeping needs Monitor and address basic issues involving lighting, plumbing, drains, HVAC, boiler systems, and related building equipment Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors when specialized work is needed Help maintain safe exits, walkways, storage areas, and overall preschool readiness Conduct a daily morning walkthrough with preschool staff to help ensure the building is ready for children and staff Assist with seasonal work including snow and ice response, lawn and grounds upkeep, and summer deep cleaning or refresh projects Support church programs, outside groups, and special events, including occasional weekends Qualifications Experience in custodial work, facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related role preferred Basic knowledge of plumbing, heating, ventilation, lighting, and general safety practices preferred Ability to perform physical work, including lifting, bending, climbing ladders, cleaning, and seasonal outdoor work Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage routine priorities reliably Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and a cooperative attitude Background checks are required for all staff Pay:
