Garage Manager Confidential Clifton, NJ 07013 From $80,000 a year - Full-time From $80,000 a year - Full-time About the Role A well-established waste management company is seeking an experienced Garage Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of its vehicle and equipment fleet in Clifton, NJ. This is a key leadership role responsible for fleet availability, maintenance programs, safety compliance, and budget control. Key Responsibilities Supervise, coach, and develop a team of mechanics, technicians, and fleet administrative staff Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs to minimize vehicle downtime Manage relationships with dealers, parts suppliers, and external garages Monitor maintenance costs, parts inventory, and vendor invoices Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety, mechanical, and environmental regulations (OSHA) Produce fleet performance reports (availability, downtime, cost per unit) for senior management Coordinate with dispatch and operations to align fleet availability with collection routes Participate in capital planning, vehicle replacement decisions, and annual budget development Requirements Minimum 7 years of experience in fleet management, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, or a related role Knowledge of heavy-duty trucks and waste collection equipment (Roll-Off, Front-End, rear-load) Familiarity with fleet management systems and preventive maintenance programs Understanding of DOT, OSHA, and applicable transportation/environmental regulations Experience supervising a maintenance team or technical staff preferred Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills Basic financial acumen (budgeting, cost analysis, vendor negotiation) Why Join Us?
