This role is responsible for reviewing architectural design documents for tenant projects to ensure compliance with applicable building codes, client technical standards, operational requirements, and industry best practices. The Architect will serve as a critical liaison between clients, tenants, design consultants, internal stakeholders, and multidisciplinary review teams to support the successful execution of facility improvement and tenant construction projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple design reviews and project coordination efforts simultaneously within a fast-paced transportation and infrastructure environment. This position requires a proactive professional capable of independently analyzing architectural submissions, coordinating technical review comments, facilitating resolution meetings, and supporting project teams throughout the design review and approval process. Key ResponsibilitiesArchitectural Design Review & Code Compliance Review architectural design documents for tenant improvement and construction projects at client facilities for compliance with applicable building codes, life safety requirements, accessibility standards, client technical standards, and operational requirements. Analyze and review architectural drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, studies, and technical submittals for completeness, constructability, and regulatory compliance. Evaluate project submissions for adherence to applicable local, state, federal, and transportation facility requirements. Ensure design documents align with operational, maintenance, safety, and facility standards established by clients and project stakeholders. Review tenant fit-outs, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, transportation-related facilities, and associated architectural systems. Coordination & Stakeholder Management Coordinate review comments from multiple technical disciplines including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, civil, security, and operational departments. Prepare formal memoranda, technical correspondence, and comment packages for transmittal to line departments, tenants, consultants, and project stakeholders. Serve as a liaison between clients, tenants, tenant Architect/Engineer of Record (AOR/EOR), facility representatives, and internal application reviewers to ensure efficient project workflow and communication. Attend project meetings, technical review sessions, coordination meetings, and design discussions with tenant architects, engineers, contractors, and facility personnel. Discuss review comments with project teams and assist in resolving technical issues, code concerns, and design conflicts. Support collaboration between internal departments and external project teams to facilitate timely project approvals and document resolution. Project Support & Technical Oversight Support all phases of architectural design review, project coordination, and construction administration efforts. Provide technical guidance and architectural expertise related to transportation facilities, public infrastructure, tenant improvements, and facility modernization projects. Assist with interpretation and application of client standards, design criteria, and facility requirements. Maintain organized project documentation, review logs, tracking systems, and technical records. Support schedule coordination and review timelines to ensure project deliverables are completed efficiently. Assist with field verification activities, site visits, and coordination efforts as required. Participate in multidisciplinary project reviews and collaborate with engineering, operations, construction, and facilities teams. Sustainable Design & Technology Support sustainable design initiatives and encourage incorporation of LEED and environmentally responsible design practices where applicable. Utilize architectural software and digital tools to review, coordinate, and manage project documentation. Support implementation of modern design technologies, BIM coordination, and digital collaboration platforms. Required QualificationsEducation Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an architectural program accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) required. Professional five-year or Master's Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university required. Experience Minimum of five (5) years of experience in building codes, architectural systems, and building design/construction required. Two (2) to eight (8) years of experience in all phases of architectural design preferred. Experience supporting transportation facilities, infrastructure projects, public agencies, commercial facilities, or large institutional projects strongly preferred. Strong understanding of architectural disciplines related to building design, tenant improvements, transportation facilities, and infrastructure construction. Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design reviews and resolving technical design issues preferred. Licensing & Certifications Registered Architect license in the State of New York and/or New Jersey strongly preferred. Architectural license in the State of New Jersey preferred. Valid Driver's License required. Technical Knowledge & Software Skills Demonstrated knowledge of: Building codes and accessibility standards Architectural systems and construction methods Transportation and public facility design Design review and construction coordination processes Proficiency in: Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft Office Suite AutoCAD Architectural Desktop (latest release) Knowledge of Revit (latest release) highly desirable.
Experience with:
SketchUp Rhino Other graphic and architectural visualization software highly desirable. Ability and willingness to learn various internal and external software systems including: SharePoint eBuilder Document management and project tracking systems Communication & Professional Skills Strong oral and written communication skills required. Superior presentation, coordination, and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict-resolution abilities. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively within multidisciplinary team environments. Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills. Comfortable interacting with clients, tenants, consultants, public agencies, facility representatives, and executive stakeholders. Highly Desirable Qualifications Familiarity with sustainable design principles and LEED certification processes. Experience supporting public-sector, aviation, transportation, rail, terminal, infrastructure, or large facility-related projects. Knowledge of facility operations and tenant coordination processes within active transportation environments.Job Type:
