Job Description
Job Overview The Engineering Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for performing and overseeing daily maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and building systems across the campus. This position manages and works alongside a team of technicians to ensure all mechanical equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support academic, dormitory, and administrative buildings. Key Responsibilities (Include but not limited to): Leadership and Supervisory Duties Lead and work alongside HVAC technicians and maintenance staff, providing technical direction and hands on assistance in daily operations. Assign, prioritize, and inspect daily work orders, preventive maintenance tasks, and emergency repairs. Train and mentor technicians on proper work practices, safety procedures, and equipment operation. Ensure compliance with university policies, safety regulations, and applicable codes. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Operational Support Respond promptly to service requests and emergency calls, including after-hours issues. Maintain accurate records of service, maintenance, and repair activities. Communicate equipment conditions, repair needs, and project updates to supervisors and management. Coordinate and assist contractors during major repairs, replacements, or specialized projects. Technical and Maintenance Duties Perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, VAV systems, pumps, exhaust fans, and refrigeration units. Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system malfunctions using meters, gauges, and diagnostic tools. Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections according to established schedules. Repair or replace defective parts such as valves, compressors, motors, belts, and bearings. Monitor and adjust temperature controls, thermostats, and building automation systems (BMS) to maintain proper environmental conditions. Perform system balancing and leak detection. Support related maintenance tasks, including plumbing, electrical, and general building repairs.
Qualifications and Competencies:
High School Degree Required; College degree highly desired or equivalent work experience. Must have 3 to 5 years of prior supervisory experience in a facilities maintenance position or similar industry. Possess strong supervisory skills in the operation and maintenance of facilities management services, low pressure steam boilers, refrigeration/AC, generators, plumbing and electrical systems, blueprint reading, equipment maintenance, cleaning chemicals, infection control procedures, and universal precautions. Possess knowledge of basic computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office 365 Suite, Video Conferencing Platforms, Automated Building Maintenance Systems. Strong relationship building skills, specifically able to build effective relationships with building management, other facility teams, client representatives, CBS staff and management. Self-starter able to work with a high degree of urgency and under pressure to meet deadlines. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects at the same time. Strong English communication skills both written and verbal. • Able to work in a professional manner at all times and actively contributes to a positive work environment. Able to work successfully in a team environment and motivate a team to accomplish goals.Licenses Required:
EPA Universal Refrigeration Certification. P99 Low PSI Oil Burner Operation.Pay:
