Job Description

Job Summary The Preventive Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving dietary supplement manufacturing and packaging equipment across three manufacturing sites. This role supports preventive maintenance (PM) programs, maintenance planning, troubleshooting, repair activities, and oversees equipment reliability, maintenance documentation, SOP development, cleaning verification processes, and operational efficiency while minimizing downtime and maintaining GMP, food safety, quality, and safety compliance. The position requires hands-on technical experience with manufacturing and packaging equipment, strong troubleshooting ability, and coordination with vendors, Production, QA, and leadership teams to ensure equipment performance and compliance. Primary facility located in Millville, NJ. Travel between all three company sites in Millville, NJ and Moorestown, NJ is required as needed. Duties Preventive Maintenance Program Develop, implement, and maintain preventive maintenance schedules for all utilities, HVAC, facility and manufacturing equipment including cooking, packaging, grinding, encapsulating, and filling equipment among others. Production usage/risk to safety and product Create and maintain PM procedures, checklists, records, work instructions. Ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance activities. Maintenance Execution and Equipment Reliability Perform and/or supervise preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing, packaging, utility, and facility equipment. Work with colleagues or outside vendors on proper maintenance of all equipment. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, diagnose, and coordinate repairs promptly. Coordinate and prioritize corrective and preventive maintenance activities to minimize production downtime and operational disruptions through proactive maintenance planning. Escalate critical issues to leadership with recommendations and corrective actions. Coordinate with external vendors/service providers when required. Maintain spare parts inventory recommendations for critical equipment. Ensure all equipment operates safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company, state, and federal standards. Maintenance Data Management and Continuous Improvement Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, inspection reports, and work order documentation. Track and analyze maintenance performance indicators with Production Managers/COO, such as downtime, repair time, PM completion rates, equipment reliability trends, and maintenance costs. Utilize maintenance data to identify recurring failures and root causes. Develop corrective and preventative actions based on trend analysis and personal observations. Generate maintenance performance reports and recommendations for leadership. If determined to be useful and necessary, support the implementation, utilization, and training of maintenance management software systems (CMMS). SOP & Documentation Management Develop and revise equipment SOPs, PM procedures, operational procedures, and cleaning procedures. Ensure all documentation complies with GMP requirements. Support equipment qualification and validation documentation as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and service records. Cleaning Verification, cGMP, Food Safety & Compliance Support and maintain cleaning verification and equipment cleaning programs. Ensure equipment cleaning procedures are effective, meet regulatory and quality system requirements, and are compliant with GMP expectations. Support equipment qualification, validation, calibration, and verification activities as required. Work closely with Quality and Production to improve cleaning processes and verification methods. Support investigations related to equipment, cleaning, or maintenance deviations. Vendor & Technical Coordination Communicate with equipment manufacturers and vendors regarding maintenance requirements, troubleshooting, upgrades, and technical support. Obtain and review manufacturer recommendations for PM optimization. Coordinate service visits and equipment improvement activities. Leadership & Cross-Functional Support Work closely with Production, QA, QC, Warehouse, and leadership teams to support operational needs. Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide recommendations to leadership regarding equipment upgrades, replacement, reliability improvements, and process optimization. Train operators and maintenance personnel on equipment operation, preventative maintenance procedures, troubleshooting practices. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Associate degree, Bachelor's degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering preferred. Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience, preferably in dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, food, or GMP-regulated manufacturing environments. Demonstrated experience with preventive maintenance systems and equipment troubleshooting required. Experience with CMMS systems and maintenance documentation preferred. Supervisory or leadership experience preferred. Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights. Critical thinking and ability to write investigations, various protocols, and reports. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. In addition to high technical competence, understands and can articulate the scientific/regulatory principles that underlie practices and guide future projects/studies/reviews development. Ability to provide equipment and procedure training and to share technical expertise to solve problems. Required Skills & Knowledge Strong understanding of GMP requirements Experience developing PM schedules and maintenance systems Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, electrical and mechanical diagrams, blueprints, schematics and equipment drawings Knowledge of production equipment operation and troubleshooting Strong—or at least a functional—understanding of plumbing, electrical, fabrication, and mechanical trades Understanding of cleaning verification and sanitation practices Strong documentation and organizational skills Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects across sites Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb as required Ability to work in manufacturing and warehouse environments Ability to use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment safely.
Pay:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour
